Help settle a debate in the Lake household! How many silverware place settings do you have?

I have 10. I feel like I should bump it up to 12 but mh is waffling. We had six adults over for mh's birthday and between the food prep, dinner, dessert, and coffee, our silverware drawer was empty. Plus the kids will be using adult silverware eventually. I vote that this should be done while the pattern is still produced.

I mean, technically we still have our first set of nice silverware that mil gave us when we moved into together but I want everything to match our wedding set. Plus I don't want to dig through the closet to pull out that set when I need it.

I love the antique pewter finish, it's even better in person. It's very me. I'm not a very shiny person.

I assume you mean "place settings" and not sets. Like, I have ONE SET that is 8 place settings, 40 pieces. We get by on a regular basis with this, but we run our dishwasher about every other day. Sometimes, we resort to using little forks for dinner, and sometimes we have to pull dirty forks and knives from thedishwaher, hand wash them, and use them.
It does become a PITA if we have company for dinner. I think double the amount (so, 16 place settings) would be ideal. but they wouldn't fit in the silverware tray. And we don't have an extra drawer where they'd fit.

Also, Lakes, that set is gorgeous and simple. I love it. Buy more.

12 but I'd like 16 so we have a buffer if they discontinue it. So I'm team Mrs. Lakes!

Ahhhh yes judyblume14! Place settings. Do not wish to store or wash that much silverware. Off to get more coffee.

Oh, and somehow, though we have 8 of everything... 3 of our little forks are MIA. WTF.

In addition to our 12, I bought something like 4 extra small spoons because I always seem to go through those during cooking and food prep.

Mine are from C&B too and also have a wonderful weight. Do they have open stock in the stores for this? I don't see the option for single pieces online but it's a pita to navigate on mobile.

We can be weird together with our love of little utensils.

I also prefer the small forks and spoons (it was probably me who lost the little forks by taking them to work for lunch or something). I also use the little plates. It makes me think I'm controlling my portions. But really, it just means I eat 2 plates of food instead of 1.

judyblume14 yes to small plates as well! Isn't there something about smaller bites, more chewing, feeling full sooner to go along with the smaller plates, smaller portions thinking? At least that's what I tell myself.

I have 8, technically, which I think is enough since most big parties involve plastic utensils in our house. I do have some odds and ends of silverware from back in college, though.

I was just thinking this too! Very interesting. Yea I'm just weird. It's not that weird if you think about it. It's like keeping kosher. My first summer job was at a beach concession. One of the lifeguards brought over a veggie burger and asked me to cook it...on the grill I cooked meat burgers on. I was like...huh.

Mh says I can put it on my Christmas list. While I do like useful things for Christmas, I think two sets of silverware might be stretching it a little too far. It's definitely a want, not a need, but still.
