What's everyone up to today?
I'm about to go for a run then shower and grocery shopping. Such an exciting life.

DD started kindergarten today... I can't wait to talk to her after school. I'll post a pic in the first day of school pics thread.
I need to start working, but I am having a hard time getting into it. I took the afternoon off so I can spend time with DD when she gets home from school. I think we are going to go out to dinner at the place of her choosing to celebrate her first day.

Just a boring day here. Got a text asking if they could bring the invited kid's little sister to the party because the husband has to work. Ugh

How old is the sister? she's like 'oh let me know either way, no worries!' but it would be weird to flat out say no unless we were paying per kid for whatever venue we were using which we're not. I believe she's toddler aged, if my memory serves me correctly. I just don't want her getting in the way of the older kids so I would hope the mom would keep her at bay if that were to happen.

DD has been back at school since Monday, when I asked her today how school was, she said nobody wanted to play with her, broke my heart. But she later said she played with some of kids while outside and she says she enjoys school so that helps.
DH also has a man cold and is apparently on the brink of death.

misspeansmama how did she do this morning going to school? I hope she has a great day! She was really excited all morning, which is great. Once we got to school she got a bit overwhelmed though. For the first two days, instead of following the normal drop off routine, the have all the kids go to the gym and line up with their class and teacher. There were a lot of kids and a lot of noise...and as I mentioned yesterday those are two things she struggles with. So we found her teacher and got her sitting in line where she was told. Then she just sat there quietly looking nervous. I stayed for a short while, then went over and gave her a kiss and told her to make sure she talked to her teacher if she needed anything. She seemed ok (not crying or anything), but I can't get over the look on her face in that gym. Hopefully once she got into her class she perked up. I am sure the teachers have their ways to get the kids out of their shells.

loveswaffles, that would break my heart too. Sorry you have to deal with YH's man cold. NamasteBirches, hopefully the mom will keep tabs on the little sister.

DS over here is giving me issues with the bus. I get him a darn ride on it & now all of a sudden he doesn't want to get on it. The problem is he's so obsessed with whatever he's doing in the morning which recently has been playing with trains or his cars/trucks that the bus comes about 20 minutes earlier than what time we'd leave if I drive him so he complains that it "takes too long." I mean, it is an obnoxious drive all around town when we're 2 minutes away but I mainly wanted him to get a spot on the bus for the winter. I told him I might drive you once in a while now but once it's winter you're riding every day. The bus is safer than my car. I'm just scared that if we're wishy washy with riding one day & not riding the next if we'll lose the spot. So I don't know. Hopefully it's not a big deal since they pass our house anyway & all we have to do is stand outside.

My kid isn't starting school, buy my H is today! He's starting his new grad program! His campus is right where he works, so he stayed home a little longer this morning, which it was nice to have him there to entertain DS while I could get ready in peace. But unfortunately, since his class is 6-9, it also means solo bedtime for me. My mom is watching DS today, so we'll just eat dinner at her house, so it shouldn't be too bad, and he's got two nights under his belt now of going to bed like a champ in his toddler bed, so I'm not too worried.
Also, my dad relayed the story to me that apparently DS locked my mom out of their house this morning. All is well, and she was able to get him to let her back in pretty quick, but I enjoyed my dad telling me that my kid has officially outsmarted my mom.

Well, that's also the thing. We got stuck with a rule abiding set in her ways bus driver. So when he gets on the bus, he's in the first row but now that he's done it a few times, I've noticed before the bus stops, she has the kids in the front sort of rotate so basically that's not his seat. It's your seat when you first get on so DH figured it out, it's like a time saving thing instead of a kid walking to where they want to sit, she has the front rows eventually move to the back. It's a little hard to explain but DS has mentioned he's usually sitting with one of the high school kids. :/ which annoys me like keep the little kids together so they can have a friend. So stupid.

Halfway through Thursday, we can make it!
DD seems to be enjoying Kindergarten, so that's good.
My office is so cold (they have the AC on) I had to grab a space heater & plan to bring in a blanket & gloves. 😒

R has been going down for her nap earlier lately. I think she might be working on an earlier bedtime, too. Unfortunately, earlier bedtime means earlier wake up. It's been two days of 7/7:30pm bedtimes and two days of 6am wake ups. No thank you.

I always did the same as you with a space heater, blanket and gloves for the office.

Wait....high school kids go to school at the same time as the elementary school kids, and ride the same bus? That is so foreign to me. Here the elementary schools start an hour later than the junior high/high schools. I agree that little kids should be sat together.

I'm laughing at this response I got from the soccer coach. I decided to just email her since I have her contact info, why the hell not (we invited the team.) She says a bunch of stuff going wrong about her phone/complaining about Iphones & then "E would love to go but I do realize at this point you may have already reserved a final head count." To me this reads as they were going to just ignore the invite but little did she know, we're casually confronting the few people that haven't rsvp'd tonight at practice. Lol it's like if you don't want to come, just don't. Don't say these weird things. The back story is we get the vibe that she doesn't really like us

I think we're going to have to actually go to the stores and try on a million pair.

We went out for wings after school today. It was my younger class first day today. They all did such a good job!
First day part two is tomorrow with my older class. I'm hoping it goes as well as today did. Enjoying some wine with SO this chilly evening at home now. I can get behind fall evenings like this I guess!
