Our contractor is here finishing up. As long as there are no hiccups everything will be done today! Hurray! It's taken so much longer than expected, but I'm really so impressed with this guys work, and how well he communicated with us. We will definitely use him again.

I need input on EIs. So, I know doctors and chiropractors mostly hate each other, but I decided to take H in with me to the chiropractor because I suspect another EI. I texted is pedi first to get her opinion. She basically said she thinks its nonsense, but won't do harm. So I took him in this morning and he got adjusted and the chiro said his right ear definitely has fluid and is red.. so ear infection #4 since June. He wants us to come back Friday to recheck his ears. But now I feel like I'm doing my kid harm by not taking him in to the pedi knowing he has an ear infection. When he had his last EI a month ago, the pedi said if it didn't clear up, we would get the ENT referral for tubes. It technically cleared up by the follow up 2 weeks later, but now it's back. H hasn't had a fever and but has a cold/cough so he's acting a little "off" but not terrible. Still sleeping fine at night. Soooo... WWYD? Wait it out and take him to the follow up Chiro on Friday or try to get him in to the pedi asap? Or I could try and get him into the pedi Monday after a couple of chiro adjustments. Take him to the pedi. The Chiro can't do anything to help if he has a bacterial infection.

I was thisclose to just driving home after work and laying in bed until I need to get the kids. I sucked it up and am waiting for boot camp. I'm not even a little excited.

Guys, I'm actually all caught up at work. I've been behind with a million odds and ends forever. I'm enjoying it before more work comes piling in this afternoon.

Cher that's tough. I'm so sorry. How did the pedi appointment go? Did she have any advice for the colic? I used the mylicon drops, too, and I think it helped a little. The pedi told me to ditch those and use the gerber soothe probiotic. A good friend who had a baby in May suggested a colic remedy from a natural health pharmacy back home. Her pedi actually recommended it. I ordered it online and use it. I think it helps a little. It's basically all natural ingredients that alleviates gas/stomach pains. I can give you the link if you want it. It lists the ingredients and tell you what each is for.

I prefer gas drops over gripe water because you don't have to give them as much so less is likely to be spit out.

The gripe water really didn't do much except knock out hiccups but I've heard others rave about it.

Well so much for my plans to kick ass organizing the house. I had to pick up X from DC because he woke up from nap with a pretty high fever.
Poor guy.

slenle I found a chiro who is also a DO. He's amazing because when I had a sinus infection, he did some weird massage to my face as also prescribed antibiotics. Cher my oldest had colic. I feel for you. I survived today. First day with students, all the kids first days back. T loved preschool except for "the teacher who threw out his apple because healthy food is not allowed." Thankfully, DH got home early. I had to drop DD at gymnastics, DS at hockey, go back for DD, then go back for DS and stay for a hockey meeting. DH was able to make hockey pick-up and the meeting and is now picking up pizza while I write our same address and phone number on 90,000 forms for the kid's school. Tomorrow I have an OB appointment. I have lots of questions about the heart stuff with the baby, getting my tooth filling, and if they are going to do my CS early because it's number 4 since MFM scared me.

I just took a hot shower and it made me laugh thinking about when I was pregnant with C and how I'd pretty much take cold or lukewarm showers because I was scared I'd hurt him!

kim22 I always found the MFM to be super alarmist. My on agreed and sort of toned down everything they said. I went to a big one that is sort of near where you are so there is a good possibility it's the same one.

flamingo is Irma expected to hit Jacksonville? I don't think it will be a direct hit but it's looking like they'll get more than a glancing blow, probably Monday.

Colin felt kind of warm before dinner - but said he felt fine - then suddenly hit the wall during dinner and started acting weird and whiny. Keeping my eye on him.
Also he has weekly "homework" in his new pre-K class. It's optional but is meant to reinforce what they're learning. They also have specific show and tell assignments each Friday and they are each the "star of the day" once a month or so, which comes with mini responsibilities. We also send in lists of the books he's reading at home. But most of the kids are off to full day kindergarten next year, so I assume it's age appropriate. Colin thrives with that kind of structure so I have no complaints at this point.

Cadence has a homework folder. We bring it home Wednesday and return it on Friday. It has a letter worksheet that is review from class and some word cards that we get to keep. She also had an "about me" show and tell project that was due Tuesday. We did it, but Cadence took a stuffed cat that looks like her Sunshine and a stuffed George because she likes Peppa. Most of the kids didn't do it.

Well, C had her belated well-check today and is doing beautifully, and I think I'm really going to like this practice.
Preschool orientation was kind of funny, of the eye-roll funny variety. B's class definitely has a couple speshul snowflakes (probably moreso the mothers than the kids themselves!) His teacher last year set the bar so high; I couldn't really get a read on this one personality-wise, but she seems organized and like she'll be good communicator.
After we got home from the pedi, a neighbor we met over the weekend texted and asked we could get the kids together to play. Her daughter is 4-turning-5 so she and B had a great time while the mom and I chatted over a glass of wine. I really liked her and I'm excited to have a friend for B and for myself just a few houses down.

I think she's close to your old neighborhood from the pictures she sent. Hopefully they will be OK. From things I've seen on FB it's a bit crazy down there...people hoarding supplies and whatnot. We were really lucky last year when Matthew came (and that was a direct-hit, which is really unusual for the area)--our neighborhood never even lost power thanks to underground lines. Fingers crossed that will be your friends' experience, too!
