E needs glasses. He has literally destroyed every pair of sunglasses he's ever had, usually within hours. Does anyone have recs for indestructible frames? Or the best cheap places to go so I won't have to spend a billion dollars for replacements when these are inevitably destroyed? Please and thank you.

How old is he? Under 5?
I'd go with something with an elastic band to hold them on his head. At least until he gets responsible with them. This is the style my niece wore from birth.
Maybe make sure you have a specific spot for him to put his glasses when he goes to bed.

I have no specific reccs but anecdotally I'll tell you two things:
1) most kids who need glasses early figure out pretty quick that they're awesome and make them able to see, so they don't mess with them TOO much... 2) most kid-size glasses these days are magically bendy and tough
Addendum: E is gonna look SO effing cute.

I have no advice about frames but you MUST post a pic when he has them, because OMG cute.

Why did you not ask me? 😞 Miraflex is what O wears. Dilly dally look nice too, and bendy. A lot of people like tomato glasses but I don't think I've seen them IRL.
There's even enzodate on amazon. China cheapie of miraflex basically. $20. Take them to Walmart for lenses. $50 for the basic lense.
Also, the lenses pop out of miraflex. So like when the dog ate the frames we didn't have to pay for new lenses too.

Another also, stay away from anything with nose pads. You want all one piece.

I just went to LensCrafters and almost passed out at the price, even after insurance. Walmart's way cheaper, but it's out of network for our insurance, so I'm wondering if I should just check out our eye doctor's optical shop. I always went to LC for myself because impatient.

The lens is going to be the expensive part. Especial if you get scratch resistant and other options.

I pay OOP at Walmart. We get glare free polycarbonate and it's $80. You just take the frames in with you.

We use walmart for the kids (9 & 7) and it's not totally heart attack inducing. They offer some decent spring-back metal frames and as long as the script isn't jacked up (like mine is) polycarb lenses aren's super awful, you can get a decent pait for well under $100.
Two things I leared the hard way, from walmart:
1) buy the insurance/warranty plan up front. It's about $25 but it's gets you a years worth of no questions asked frame and lens replacement with nothing more out of pocket. If it's a frame they have in Stock and the lenses are OK they will swap out in store. If it's not in Stock or you need lenses it's a 7-10 day turn around, since no one makes them in house any more besides lenscrafters and you pay $$$ for the luxury. We usually replace frames and lenses 2x/year, so it pays for itself. The first year with glasses I think we had 2 full frame replacements in the first 3 weeks.
2) if the glasses are a complete necessity (one of mine gets headaches with out them) grab a pair of $9 frames and the cheapest no frill lens you can get for a substitute pair while you are waiting out the 7-10 day turn around time.

+1 for having a cheap backup pair, no matter what age the wearer is.
