I haven't been around in awhile, but now that things have calmed down and we have somewhat gotten into a routine, I'm going to try to post more! Age: 3 weeks 5 days Milestones: Sam is lifting his head more and more each day. He is also more aware of his surroundings. It's so cute to watch him look around and take things in! Good/Bad from the week: Good-We've had a lot of visitors, which has been helpful. And it's nice to see people since we aren't going out much. My older son is starting kindergarten next week, so i'll be able to have some one on one time with the baby. Plus I'm excited that my big guy will be starting school because I know he will love it! Bad-Oh the lack of sleep! He's still eating every 2 to 2.5 hours, so the nights are long. I also feel a little guilty about not being able to take my 5 year old out and about like he is used to. Questions: Nothing right now. PICS I still need to figure out how to post pics. :-p

thinkchocolate05 - N was the same last night- breastfed at 7 and was just so fussy. I had 70cc in the fridge and DH was convinced he was just fussy not hungry so he was doing everything he could to soothe him, finally at 9 he agreed to let me warm up the milk- kid took the whole thing and was still being a fussbot. Finally at 10 I pumped again because my nipples are feeling raw and I figured he could bottle feed whatever I pumped for his next feeding around 12/1... nope at 11 we fed him the 80cc I pumped because he was in beast mode..... and then I breastfed him at midnight again! And THEN he slept til 4am. But he was SO FUSSY I felt terrible because I'm pretty sure he was hungry and I didn't have enough milk to satiate him in one sitting, I had to divide it up, because DH was still convinced he was just fussy and not hungry and doesn't want to break out the formula. 😒 At least I just got a nice chunk of sleep-ish- I kept waking up to check on him 😣 Glad you got the chunk of sleep!! Mine only slept two hours even though we ended up giving an ounce of formula bc I ran out of pumped milk. That's good to know other babies are that hungry. I keep doubting myself as to whether I'm misinterpreting his fuss as hunger cues when he actually wants something else. After his two hour stretch, he was up every half hour from 4 to 8 wanting to be held and comfort nurse. Sigh. Eventually he'll sleep more.

December because that was what H decided when he thought she would actually be able to help. It would have got us through a few weeks after I go back to work. Now, she just stood up and walked while holding Evie instead of asking me to get her. Scary as shit. She definitely was unsteady and not balanced. And she agreed yesterday that it wasn't safe for her to walk and carry so I'm not sure why she did this. The H knows I'm miserable but that really doesn't change anything. It was a multistage fix on the rash: she had a yeast infection so they did nystatin powder followed by a layer of cavilon. Then a thick layer of the ointment which was ilex mixed with vaseline.

thinkchocolate05, Letting go and supplementing with formula has been a lifesaver for DH and me. We both feel better about J's feeding now. I hope you can figure out something that makes both you and DH happy with regards to feeding. Also, I feel like they should give every new mother a baby scale so we can weigh them and not feel like we are underfeeding them. cali the gave me a feeding/diaper tracker paper at the hospital and I've continued with it. Whenever I freak out that J isn't getting enough food I look and he's had 7-8 wet diapers a day so I know he's ok (well I mostly know, it makes me feel better to have data). I also know how many times I breastfeed, for how long, and how much formula I give. cwbh928 J is super gassy. Last night DH and I were laughing so hard...I felt like we were kids but J was farting for like 5 minutes straight then had a blow out. I'm going to ask the doctor if maybe we need to supplement with a different formula because it's hurting his stomach. buggirl So glad to see you here and see the progress the twins are making! Age: 1 week 4 days Milestones: The last 2 nights he has slept for 2 1/2 hours or 2 hours at a time (not all night long but the first sleep of the night). We gave him his second bath last night. He's starting to hold his head up. Good/Bad from the week: Good-He's sleeping a little better at night so DH and I aren't totally exhausted, just somewhat. I feel more comfortable giving formula which was hard for me but I think it's been the best decision I've made. Bad-He still doesn't sleep much at night. His first stretch is the longest and then it gets progressively shorter all night long. Also, breastfeeding is still goign rough for us. He is eating between 6-9 times per day plus the formula but I need someone to tell me he's doing ok and eating enough because I just don't know. Questions: I think I've asked all of mine in the other threads.

king26 I need to come to peace with supplementing with formula. I knew I'd likely need to bc I didn't have enough supply with DS1, and I told myself before I had DS2 that I would not get all hung up and irrational about supplementing this time. Fed is best, but I can't seem to convince my hormones of that. I am in the same situation sleepwise with a slightly older baby. He will sleep two hrs at the beginning of the night and then everything else is worse, lol. I'm sure it's just temporary.

Sorry for the MIL troubles buggirl. Is she helping in others ways, or can you politely send her home? She loaded the dish washer after dinner. No, she was driven out here so she would have her car and my SIL is going to fly out in December to drive her back. Only way she could go home early is if my H took enough time off work to drive her home (1600 miles). She did spend the evening pouting after my H told her to quit bouncing B when he was sitting in his bouncy seat so chances of her asking to go home early just went up. I'm pretty proud of my H for sticking up for B. He does not like to be bounced and the MIL responds to him crying when she does it by bouncing him harder. I've tried to explain that he's a preemie and the need to limit stimulation still - and seriously, he cries harder- but she's convinced it soothes him.

buggirl, that sounds like a tough situation. I'd be so annoyed and frustrated. I'm glad yh is speaking up! December is a really long time for any guest to stay, I really hope she decides to go home early for your sake.

Age: 16. Days Milestones: ? Should there be a milestone ? Good/Bad from the week: bad - 16 strait days of visitors. Good- I really love this baby Questions: I don't know how to dress her for bed on a warm night. I'm afraid ill over heat her. PICS!! So many We bought the kinsa smart thermometer that sticks into our phone. We do underarm checks to watch their temps. You can get them at targetl. It does a really fast read and will give you a good idea on how you are doing on dressing her for the night. We ended up having to applying heavier layers than we thought to keep the twins body temp in line but they are also pretty small still. Right now we do a onesie, sleeper, and a halo sleep sack (fleece). With Evie we have to add a small receiving blanket wrapped around her inside the sleep sack.

Age: 10 weeks/3 weeks adjusted It's going too fast Milestones: He is getting so good at holing his head up and is bearing weight on his arms some during tummy time. He has been giving me a 5 hour stretch without eating for the past week or so. ETA: he graduated to the regular growth chart! He is in the 2nd percentile for weight. Still off for the rest though.Good/Bad from the week: Good: He's doing great. he is starting to be awake more and will actually pay attention to us for very brief periods of time. He smiled at H yesterday which I'm counting as his first social smile. Bad: He was diagnosed with reflux at his 2 month appointment so we are doing zantac 2X a day. He has been really gassy and a little constipated so I ordered some different probiotics and hopefully that will help.Questions: PICS!! His face in this one kills me.

cwbh928 once I started giving probiotics to my older daughter she was noticably less fussy and gassy. Maybe give them a try? I used the biogaia ones with vit D with her. I tried the mommy's bliss ones with Oliver but I don't think they are working as well so I just ordered the other ones. buggirl 1) I love those onesies. I had to restrain myself form buying the entire line. 2) no thank you to a houseguest who can't actually help.

He can usually pass the gas no problem, but sometimes he really struggles and I don't think the gas drops are cutting it. We have his 1 month appointment tomorrow and I am going to bring it up.

N slept like crap last night. I think it's bc he was cold. I just swaddled him and snuggled with him all night and cluster fed. Don't know why my stupid brain didn't think to add another layer of clothing 😒
Dr appt today- he's 9# 3oz!!! He gained 11oz since his appt 12 days ago!! And Dr said him eating every four is fine so I don't need to wake him up after three if he's still sleeping 🙌🏼 Of course if he's up every hour on his own that doesn't help me but at least hopefully we can get some longer rest chunks!!!
And she prescribed me some nystatin bc she agrees I may have thrush so we're just going to treat me for it. I really hope this med works bc my boob pain and itchiness is out. Of. Control.

Anyone have baby's sleep get WORSE around 3 weeks? He was napping so nicely during the day and now he fusses if he's not held. The most he gets at night is 2 hours but usually it's one hour and then he wants to bf again.

M is doing about 3 hrs at night but sometimes less and poops so much I have to change her which wakes her so I don't know sometimes if she would go longer. We have fussy days here too sometimes and just wants to be held

There's something about a fresh diaper that makes him poop, and then I take that one off and next thing I know he's peed everywhere and needs a new sleeper and swaddle. And then he's wide awake.

Juat realized I never checked in here myself yet.
Age: 14 days - how did that happen???
Milestones: ?
Good/Bad from the week: G: I haven't needed to supplement with formula in 2 days - but instead supplement with pumped milk. I pumped my first 2oz in one session this morning which felt like a huge accomplishment (other sessions today I pumped 1/3rd of am oz max). She had her first bottle feed today and it went well - and nursed on the boob without issues afterwards again. I got 2-3h of sleep twice in the early hours two nights in a row (when she finally settled around 3am after fussing for hours) this Sun and Mon night. B: Just when I thought she was okay with being put back in her bassinet after MOTN feedings, allowing me some sleep as well, she fussed and cried most of the night last night again and only wanted to nurse or be held or both. Good thing she is awfully cute and gets away with it 😉
Questions: How do you ladies store your pumped BM? I keep each pump session's milk in a seperate little container then put it in the fridge till we use it to supplement (within 24h - tho i think I can keep it in the fridge for 48 or 72h?). But it doesn't feel like the handiest way so am looking for tips and ideas. Once I pump enough to really build up a bit of stock I will freeze some and someone suggested using icecube trays for that but those are open on top.. is that hygienic? Can I add freshly pumped milk to the previously pumped batch in the fridge if I am going to use it within 24h anyway?
PICS!! Once we got our pw protected board set up I will post some pics!

muscari Center for Disease Control (US govt) says 5 days storage time for fresh expressed milk is fine as long as you store it deep in the fridge and not in the door. I read 3-8 days elsewhere, but wouldn't be comfortable with 8. I have read not to add warm, fresh milk to chilled milk, but it may not be that big of a deal if you are using within 24 hrs. Currently, I store my expressed milk like you, lined up so I know which bottle is oldest. If I ever make enough to freeze, I plan to use those little milk storage bags, although I guess they are bad for the environment. I am too much of a germophobe for the ice cube tray, plus the storage bags are labeled with measurements, which I like. Congrats on the breastfeeding going well. That is awesome!!!!

Wow, 8 days is a really long period.. don't think I'd be comfortable with that either. So far we've used any pumped milk to supplement the day of pumping or day and haven't had any to store longer but hopefully that'll change soon. I'm with you on the ughness of the ice cube tray and honestly was thinking those baggies are the way to go for me as well once I get to freezing any!
