Gaiz, I'm dying. My nipples are going to burn themselves right off my breasts. Mine have been so sensitive and sore. I stepped in the shower this morning and the water hit them immediately. Ouch, ouch, ouch.

Ouch, ouch, ouch. See, that I have also had and while not fun, I'd take it over this. I just started taking labetalol for HBP this morning and holy crow. It's on and off and I never know when it's going to happen but it legitimately feels like there's a fire on my nipples. Just the nipples, no new touch sensations, nothing I've eaten or drank since taking meds this morning has changed anything. Just sudden heat of a thousand suns and all the pain in my nips. WHY, PREGNANCY.

I talked to my sister tonight. She's pregnant with her first and her due date was yesterday. She had an ultrasound today and they are estimating that her baby is currently 8.5 lbs. She's set to be induced Friday if she doesn't go into labor on her own. I hope the baby doesn't get too much bigger...that sounds painful.

DD was about 9.5lbd and that is not something I'd like to repeat - though recovery wasn't really that bad and everything went back to normal. Any other STM+ moms out there with big babies? My OB already mentioned that they'll probably do size checks towards the end.

Luckily there weren't many complications with G and no tearing. So here's hoping....

clementine with my first we went on a baby moon at this BnB in Cape Cod. It was cute and the breakfast was so good. Plus it's only like a half hour or so from Boston. If you want I can look up the name. That really sucks about your PTO though. We can't even use PTO for maternity leave. It's the worst. Ugh I'm angry for you about your PTO situation. I don't know why America can't just get with the program and have better maternity benefits. A BnB sounds nice, so I'll take the name of you have it handy!

DH's interview went well, he thinks. It was 3+ hours and he met with five different people. Oof. He knew about the length and everything ahead of time, but talk about an intense second round. They said that they like to sit on the second round interviews for a bit, so he may not hear anything for a week. I'm terrible at waiting.

I'm not the only one with a Doritos obsession this pregnancy?! I've been craving the Cooler Ranch variety like crazy. Rama Also, please never stop with the anime reaction gifs. They're my favorite. Well I haven't craved Doritos. Until now... Yup

My side of the family and DH side of the family tend to have big babies, so I am fully expecting another big baby. My delivery with DS wasn't too rough, so hopefully, it won't be much different this time.

I grow really small babies. At her last growth scan on the Wednesday prior to her Tuesday birth, they said my second was well over 7 pounds, closer to 7.5. Whoa, awesome, considering my first was 5 pounds, 9 ounces. Girlfriend was 5 pounds, 12 ounces. OB doesn't think I'll hit 6 pounds this time either.

I dunno if I should start a new thread for this, but I still wanted to ask for opinions.
My OB has given me the option to do my ultrasounds starting with the A/S with a MFM. They're concerned about my BP and I'm supposed to take it every day now with my home cuff and report back the numbers each week.
I asked if I was to take her up on the referral if that would move all of my care to them instead of her and she said that would be something I'd have to ask them. I really, really love my OB. She's been amazing for us through our experiences since our first loss and I kinda was looking forward to going through this whole thing with her. BUT. I know the MFM will have better information and training if I end up with complications. They also have the good machines. They're also something of a long drive away.
So I'm kinda on the fence of what to do about this and I feel like I'm not really equipped with enough information to make this choice yet. I want to give her an answer by the end of the week.
PROS/CONS TO STAYING: +I love my OB +I'm established and we have great rapport +I would love to have a pregnancy she can see through this time +She's local and delivers at my hospital of choice +She's very communicative, as her job allows, and doesn't pull punches when I need to hear the Real(tm) shit -The exam room ultrasounds are garbage -She has to refer messages to MFM a lot -If something happens, she may not have the right knowledge and clout to do something quickly
PROS/CONS TO GOING: +Better equipment for both my and baby's care +Theoretically better trained doctors for complications that may arise from my high-risk status (loss, IF, HBP) +The hospital they are located at is much bigger and has a NICU (my local one doesn't, I'm pretty sure) -The drive is much longer and I could very easily get caught in traffic -I don't know anyone at this facility and strangers make me extra nervous, which would exacerbate my HBP problem -If I can't find a MFM I like, I'd be SOL -They may insist I deliver at their hospital instead of my preferred, local one
Help me talk through this. Tell me what you'd do. Tell me things that make you worry and things I'm worrying about that you think are NBD. I'm caught in a mindloop and I need out.

Rama I think if I were you, I would at least make an appointment with MFM and get the opinion as to whether you should be seeing them or if you could stay with the OB. If they really feel you and your baby would be better served with MFM (and since your OB is recommending it, I'm thinking she feels this way), I would probably strongly consider it. You and your baby's health are more important.

FX this baby isn't much larger (if at all). I have 2nd degree tearing with DD and while everything healed fine, I'd prefer not to have a repeat😬

Rama I've seen an MFM alongside my OB with each of my pregnancies. In some cases the MFM will monitor you for growth scans, BPP (bio physical profile) and NST (non stress tests)at the end but your OB remains in charge of your care. They collaborate if there are any issues, and the MFM will send detailed reports to your OB about your scans, or other tests you have. I generally would see my OB every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, then every 2 until 36, and weekly after that. I saw the MFM for my NT scan, my Anatomy scan, and then every 6 weeks and was discharged from them at 36 weeks (so I think 12w for NT, 20w for my A/S, 26w for growth, 32 for growth, and 36 for final appointment). With my second child we had some issues because we went transverse and I have super high fluid, so at 36w that was 'diagnosed' and I was doing BPP for two weeks every other day. I was d/c from them at 38w once he flipped and looked okay for delivery. So in a nutshell - you don't have to leave your OB. See if they can just do the extra monitoring in collaboration. Then you have the best care possible.

Also - for everyone here:
If you are in labor (ok, so this is a long way off, but still) and you can't make it to your hospital that your OB/Midwife delivers at, you aren't stuck going there. You can deliver at ANY hospital. The hospital has OBs on staff, or the OB on call can deliver you. I found this out because my last two labors were 2.5 hours and less (my last was less than 2hours) and the OBs were pretty adamant that I just go to the nearest hospital this time when I'm in labor... DNW car baby, thankyou.

I understand your qualms, for sure, but for the sake of you and baby, I would at least make that first appt with an MFM.

Rama I think you should do a consult with the MFM at the very least. When talking with the MFM I would discuss the possibility of seeing your OB for regular appointments and check-ups and the MFM for ultrasounds and for anything else that may come up during your pregnancy that goes beyond what would be considered normal. I know other loss mom's who were able to see both their OB and MFM throughout their pregnancies. Maybe that would be an option? Obviously, if your pregnancy becomes way complicated, you may need up seeing the MFM exclusively no matter what, but hopefully that won't be case.

I can't say I have big babies, but I can tell you DS1 was 7lbs 12 ounces, and DS2 was born 5 days earlier than DS1, and was 8lbs 5 ounces. DD was 7lbs 8 ounces, and born later than her brothers.
MFM said generally second + babies are .5lbs larger than the baby prior to them - with boys nearly always being bigger, than girls.
Of course, that held true with my sons. We'll see with DD2 if she's closer .5lb bigger than DD1.

Rama i have no experience with mfms, but i agree with others that it sounds reasonable to at least check one out and see how you feel about it especially if you can do that in conjunction with your regular ob. i have no idea how that works though, i'm sorryypur having to make this decision when you like your reg ob so much.

Rama I had a similar experience as yianna - my MFM worked in conjunction w/ my OB (they were also right next door, which was a MAJOR convenience). I saw the MFM for all the detailed u/s (NT, A/S, and growth scans toward the end), but saw my OB for all the "regular" appts. I think I "graduated" from the MFM around 36 weeks, because at the point there really wasn't much else the detailed u/s would do. I'm team small baby - DS was 5 lb 5 oz (he was 10 days early, though). I have a feeling this baby will be the same, mostly due to my stature.

Rama I definitely would consult with the MFM and hopefully you can still see both your OB and MFM ilikebothers have done if needed. I think there is a possibility I will be in your same shoes. I am fighting high blood pressure likely due to the chronic stress I have been having. The high BP readings started in the last year and I get nervous about getting my blood pressure taken now which likely doesn't help. I really love my OB too and I really hope I can see her in some capacity throughout my whole pregnancy I am pretty sure the nearest MFM specialist to me is 45-60 mins away. It makes me sad that if I am high risk I may not be able to deliver close to home. I had such a positive delivery experience with DS, but I know for my health and babies that I want to be where the best care possible is if needed. There is no NICU at my local hospital. Babies who need NICU are air lifted or transported by ambulance to the nearest one 45 minutes away. That probably wasn't helpful, but I feel like I will be in a similar situation as you so I am commiserating.

Actually, this gives me a lot of clarity, because our situations are pretty damn similar (I'd also have to drive about 30-45+ minutes, traffic willing). Thanks for speaking up and feel free to whine about our dumb BP things anytime. <3

Does anyone else have insanely vivid dreams with pregnancy? I'm still so shaken up after the nightmare I had last night. I'll spoiler because it's really upsetting. {TW child loss}In this super long and involved nightmare, I was trying to find my toddler. When I did, he wasn't alive, and it was my fault. I woke up DH sobbing and couldn't go back to sleep, and I keep hugging DS tight and crying today. I remember the vivid dreams from my pregnancy with DS, but not them being so disturbing. WTF pregnancy subconscious.
