I only stayed up till 10 reading, improvement! I have no plans for today which is driving me crazy. I'm also staying home this weekend, the second weekend in a row, which is also driving me crazy. I do have plans for a four mile hike on Saturday so at least there's that.
Dd was up a lot and then up at 5:30 for good. I nursed her in bed in hopes that she'd go back down but no luck. She's taking her first nap already.

What are you reading Lakes? You seem hooked lately! I just started All Our Wrong Todays and it's a little out of my comfort zone but easy to read. I'm getting back to reality after vacation and looking forward to a couple months with no travel after a busy summer. M is slowly getting back to normal sleep thank god. She's been rocking on her hands and knees the last few days so I think she's about to go from army crawling to real crawling!

Oh and I have book club tonight to discuss Drop the Ball which was about women finding more balance in home life to be able to pursue more in careers. I'm excited to discuss it with other moms and also just to catch up with my neighborhood friends!

carrots I've read the 6 books in the Canadian West series by Janette Oke in the last month, my indulgent historical pg-rated romance summer fluff reading. Quick reads, I could do one in a night. She gets too religiously for me but I love anything involving wilderness/frontier survival and Canadian Mounties. I'm currently reading Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff. She was a few grades above me and I LOVED her first book, Monsters of Templeton. I don't know what I think of it yet and I'm two-thirds of the way through. Maybe it will surprise me by the end but right now it's bizarre. Obama said it was his favorite book of 2015 and I'm trying to figure out why because it's weird AF. I'm irrationally upset that this was his favorite book that year. Does this mean I'm getting old and not understanding the hip new cool literary trends?!

ambiguousmango, *hugs* Losses are always difficult. I need to get back into reading. I was re-reading The Help but I have no idea why I stopped. Probably lack of time mixed with tiredness Lol DS1 is loving school and it makes me so happy! And he must really like one of his classmates because he actually remembers her name. W has been kind of crawling for about a week now. He usually makes it a few "steps" before getting too excited and plopping face down into the ground. He's also a ravenous pig. Like, DS1 enjoyed eating but W could eat all day every day. It's the only time he really ever gets upset; when a bottle is taken away (even empty) or you aren't feeding him fast enough. My house is finally mostly clean! I raged cleaned it this weekend, thanks to H. I'm so sick of not having help around the house and he always has some reason why he can't and if I get pissed about it and snark at him, he won't help out of spite because of how I talked to him and how I "don't care about his feelings/level of tiredness". Gah. He needs a throat punch >.>

I really should start reading more again, I use to read on my lunch break but work. Unfortunately work has been crazy and I have been doing working lunches. I need to get better about this.

I just started to get back into reading the last few months. I lost my groove after ds was born. I'm ashamed to admit that I have a book on my nightstand that I started when I was pregnant with him that I haven't finished which is highly unlike me. It was a book I enjoyed too! I should finish that next but I really need the pressure of a library due date right now, it helps me prioritize reading for fun. My poor books from Christmas are still sitting on my shelf.

Our babies are with my sister form last night to tomorrow evening (daycare is closed and my sis lives an hour away, so she's doing slumber parties!). I slept for 5.5 uninterrupted hours last night and I am happy. I am also going on a date with my H tonight following y massage. Aside form the the whole "working" thing, I'm taking full advantage of the kid free days and am #livingthelife. But also, I miss my babies. This is twice in two weeks that I'm spending two nights away from them (was out of town for work last week).

Wish you could judyblume14! What did you think? I found it really relatable but since I've already stepped back by dropping down to part time, I'm committing to being the household manager and doing more of the child raising than my H since I have more hours at home. But it has made me think more about what is most important to me and how to focus as much energy as I can on those things. Also I feel like a slacker bc my career has no noble cause haha. But all of the frustrations she talks about from her first years as a mom are exactly the first year of my life as a mom. Enjoy your date night! I can definitely relate to loving kid free time but spending the whole time missing my babies.

ambiguousmango I also have a strained relationship with my grandmother and when she was hospitalized last week, I made myself really try to sort out my feelings toward her. I came to a similar place to what you said that I just can't be any closer to her but she's still family and it's scary and sad when you're family is hurting. I hope you find some peace.

carrots I am sorry you are going through that and I hope she gets better. Right now I am trying to just sort through my feelings, quite frankly she just isn't a nice person. I think right now I am mourning the fact that I never had "typical" grandmother relationship and I never will.

I didn't realize the show I decided to start tonight, Bordertown, was subtitled. Not sure I have the mental energy for that.

((Hugs)) ambiguousmangoLadies I'm jealous of all this reading, I have a degree in English Literature and never find time to read. I suppose it's more that I don't make time for it. We are staying home this weekend and I couldn't be more excited, we are always gone on the weekend so it's going to be awesome to get some stuff done.
