How do you clean it? I want a combo vacuum/mop but I'm not sure if I can use one on it...

Haters. My floor is fabulous. You all should try vinyl flooring.

I *think* the floor in one room of our old house was vinyl plank but not 100% sure. It really couldn't handle any moisture or water on it, so I wouldn't have mopped it regularly. When I did have to get it wet to clean I would dry it with a dry towel right away instead of letting it air dry.

I really just want to keep my kid's feet and knees from turning black while he crawls around lol. But I don't want to get on my hands and knees to do it. I figured steam was a no go, for the adhesive if nothing else. But even mopping is bad?

I wonder if you could swiffer (no hands and knees), but then as soon as you're done go over any wet spots wth a dry towel so the moisture doesn't sit.

I have old wood flooring (came with the house).
However, I really love my Bona products for cleaning. Mostly because they are easy to use and quick to dry.
I've started using their laminate, tile, and stone cleaner and really like it on my cheap(from the 70's) vinyl and tile. I have not tried it on laminate.
The only con is that it will not get heavy stains or stuck on food off the floor. I need to get down and spot clean. However, it is great for regular quick cleaning. Plus their dust mob is great for cleaning up hair and getting under beds/furniture.

We put vinyl tile in our basement in our new house. The installer recommended warm water and a tiny bit of dish soap. He said to mop it with the mixture, then again with plain warm water and let it air dry - but to make sure not to leave puddles.

Also, pic of the floor bc I love it so much and bc "vinyl flooring" doesn't sound nice. As per usual, don't mind the crap.

The new vinyl can look so awesome. My parents put the floating vinyl in their rental, and the packaging said to wash as you would regular flooring. Their renters say it's held up great.

This looks awesome, how long have you had it and how well does it take scratches? And yeah, I'd recommend the Bona products. You can get it at Home Depot, Target, Walmart, etc (or Amazon). And it's a really quick and easy system.

There are huge quality differences in vinyl flooring. The flippers who remodeled our house several owners before us (2005) put cheap flooring on the main floor. We're getting some warping right at the front door where wet shoes come in and leave puddles, but don't even have an issue in the kitchen where there is often sink spray on the floor. I put much nicer vinyl flooring in the basement when I remodeled it in 2009 and it still looks brand new. We're not heavy duty moppers in this house, but even the cheap stuff is doing fine. When I do mop I don't bother going back to dry it off, but I don't mop with a super wet mop either.

We did put pads on the furniture but one slipped and the edge did somehow scratch, but everywhere else is fine and its not very noticeable.

I think people tend to get laminate and vinyl confused. Laminate cannot handle much moisture and warps/scratches easily. Vinyl on the other hand can handle moisture/pet messes/etc. and hardly scratches.
We put vinyl plank down in our current house and we LOVE it. It's so easy to clean, the dog's nails don't scratch it up, it was affordable, it looks nice. I could go on.
We use murphy's oil soap to clean ours with an e-cloth mop and it works really well. Occasionally I'll have to get down on my hands and knees with some paper towels to scrub away food the kids threw on the floor, but that's NBD. I have a little shark vacuum with no brushes that I use to vacuum it.

The lady at the floor store saw O in his wheelchair and said that if he's going to be in equipment like that then vinyl is the way to go bc it can handle more abuse. Plus dogs and stuff. I had totally forgotten. Eventually I want vinyl tile in the kitchen too.

Thanks for the close-up (I figured it was all texture and not scratches) and all the info.
I'll possibly be in the market for new flooring in the kitchen and if we expand bedroom. Our wood flooring is nice, but it takes a lot of abuse from the kids. It's nice to know that the flooring market has improved a lot and there are more options.
Has anyone done work in their basement and installed flooring besides carpet?

It's water and mold resistant so if you ever have water issues, the floor should be fine. We had old disgusting carpet ripped up and they did have to level the floors, but it turned out great. We did carpet the stairs though because the wood under the old carpet wasn't nice and we had extra carpet from carpeting the finished attic.
