Well I've already started off on the wrong foot...I didn't plant my Canada 150 tulip bulbs last fall! No big plans yet. I'll have to get on that. I'd love to take the girlies to fireworks but at 2 and 4 it's probably not the time for that. It would be a late night and still up at 5:30. Boo! I heard that most of them turned out orange anyways. Can't trust the Dutch! *just a joke, I love the Dutch Haha! I'll plant them for next year and see how they go.

Add my kids to the list of those wearing JF gear. I got the older two some cute maple leaf ball caps from roots and bunnyhugs as well. We don't have any firm plans yet - possibly at the IL's cabin but the lake there will be busy af. My hometown has some cool stuff planned and my brother ends up working at the exhibition every year since his MiL is the director, so maybe we will end up there. At least I know what we are all wearing 😂 Is a bunnyhug a hoodie? I've never heard this term either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It's definitely a term from Saskatchewan.

My cousin is getting married on Canada day and I'm a bridesmaid, so will not be dressed in my usual red and white. Kinda sad to be missing festivities but excited for the wedding. Wear some underwear that says #canada under your dress.

Just bought some cute matching shirts for MH, DS and I. Maybe go to my grandparents cottage for a BBQ and then fireworks in the evening! huge wooden beaver cut out with a maple leaf that says "I love Canada" Every Canadian household has one of these. It's required by law, bunnyfungo. I would burn every MAGA hat in America and proudly display that if you guys would annex us right now.

I love your grandparents and I don't even know them!

We always go to my parents condo in the mountains over the July long weekend. There is a Canada day parade that DD loved last year. We mostly relax, eat food, and the people who like to golf do that. Same thing this year but we are staying for a week not just the long weekend

Canadian turned American here. I get nostalgic when I lurk y'alls threads.
Apparently I'm not patriotic enough because I rarely remember Canada Day until my family messages to wish a good day. Now I really wish we could drive up to partake in the festivities, but we do have exciting plan from the first to the fourth. Just very much not Canada related. I bought tickets to the Gettysburg reenactment for DH's graduation gift! But I will wear my 150th anniversary flip flops that I might earlier this month when I was visiting my sister in Saskatoon. =)
Really wish I could have gotten the tulips, but I heard lots of people had bad luck with them.

We tried to book camping in January but there were no spots left in jasper until September!! Damn free passes lol. Tears streamed down my face the last time I drove from Banff into Jasper. Hit the Saskatchewan River Crossing and I was overcome with emotion- it truly is awe inspiring! (and I grew up in beautiful mountains). Hope you get there in September:-)

Canada Day weekend marks the beginning of my summer vacation. We are usually so exhausted from wrapping up the school year and the idea of fighting traffic, ugh 😑. I love hanging out in the city when everyone leaves. BBQ in the park.

So many Canadians. Exciting!
I think we'll probably do the same thing we do every year... fire pit at my parents' house. We can see a big fireworks display from their yard. Maybe we'll get brave and check out some face painting or something in the early afternoon.

I'm laughing at "#patrioticaf" being in the same post as buying a Canada Day shirt from an American company. Not saying you're doing anything wrong, it just made me giggle. If only it were easy and affordable to find Canadian clothing companies. I miss Zellers. They were great for kids clothes. Roots outlet!

I want to be able to see the fireworks but DD is still too young and is scared of the noise, so hopefully next year. Will most likely go to the Canada festival on the waterfront. Also, that beaver picture reminds me that I took a pic beside "Mr Beaver" as DD called him a couple of weeks ago- as every good Canadian should lol

I think we're avoiding fireworks and parades because my big kid is afraid of everything and the baby is too wild.
We're likely going up to the cottage for the weekend. Not doing much in terms of celebrating Canada since my little guy turns 2 on the 2nd so it's all about him. Probably some bbq and cake, plus a lot of drinks for the adults. Since he's too young I'll take care of celebrating his champagne birthday for him.

Soooo this thread has made me realize 3 things: 1) DD currently has no Canada clothes that fit. Whoops. 2) My Canada Day shirt will also not fit this year, because pregnant. 3) We might actually be in Toronto the weekend before the holiday, (currently living in the U.S.), which means I will be able to remedy the first 2 and stock up on all my favourite treats! Where are you from originally? I'll give you Toronto recommendations if you make it up here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Toronto born and raised! Been Stateside for nearly 5 years, and I'm still amazed at how much the city seems to have changed every time I go back. My mom used to say the same thing when we'd visit Montreal, and I toooootally get it now.

When was the last time you were here? It gets better and better every year. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. We lived in Denver and SF for a bit but this will always be home.

I might be dating myself here, but does all the Canada 150 stuff make anyone else feel nostalgic about Canada 125? I mostly remember being decked out in the official gear that entire summer, hahaha.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It's been about a year, we took our first family trip for DD's 1st birthday and it was an exhausting whirlwind of family and friends. This visit will likely be the same. I can't wait for the kids to be old enough* for us to go for more than a long weekend and actually spend time exploring the city, doing things that I did as a kid and enjoying some new activities together. *I mean...#2 is still cooking, so it will be a few years yet! I'm just excited
