Ladies, how are you planning to celebrate Canada 150?

We typically spend Canada Day with friends but I feel like this year we should be camping at a national park, communing with the beavers, while eating poutine, watching the Hip concert and drinking a Molson Canadian.
In other words, I feel like I should be doing "more" this year.
Thoughts?

I'm going to be in Europe with the kiddos. Oops!
Going plan is to dress the family in Canada gear and face time MH who will be home.

I live in the national capital. Given the state of the world, my plan is to stay as far away from everything as possible. I may even leave town. I am feeling pessimistic.
But I'm checking out La Machine at the end of July! Pretty stoked about that.

I don't like the crowds on a regular year!

New to the boards and Canadian! Spending July 1 at the cottage with butter tarts and fireworks. misskilljoy I've enjoyed a couple of Canada Days in Ottawa but I totally get the apprehension about being there, especially this year

I am super stoked to actually be in Canada for at least part of Canada Day this year. Currently living in Texas, but will be partying with my family at an amazing lake cabin in BC for the week leading up to the 1st. Leaving mid day to fly to Seattle...so we will be celebrating a little early.

Exactly, boots. I never go to Parliament Hill for Canada Day. Hiding out in my edge-of-the-city suburb sounds pretty good.

A couple of towns surrounding us have celebrations on Canada day. We will likely head over to one of them at some point for some events but it won't be a late one due to the littles.

My area usually has a lot of family oriented stuff for Canada day. After that, my bff has a party every year.

Usually we go pretty big because we're from Ottawa, but we don't enjoy going to the hill with kids so it's typically a big backyard party. But we moved and have #nonewfriends. That's not true I have two great bmb friends . I am hopeful we can do *something* fun, I love dressing the kids up. Maybe a family BBQ with some lawn games.

Also in Ottawa, also not planning on heading to the hill. Most likely we will do big backyard party with friends and beer. So just a regular weekend. I am checking out the grey cup this year though!

I also fully plan on stocking up on Canadian flag festive garb while I am there so I can wear it to the 4th of July neighborhood block party we will be attending upon return to Austin.

Sounds like some good options so far. I don't blame anyone for avoiding the Hill. I don't think I'd want to be in that sea of people either.
I am super patriotic so I am going to dress my little guy to the nines this year. My DH doesn't really get in the spirit of Canada Day (he is Canadian but as the child of immigrants who never really assimilated to Canadian culture I think he sometimes identifies with the "old country" more).
I am going to have to try to think of something more fun beyond the usual get together we have.

We're doing the same thing as most years. Head down to the local festival/parade then BBQ with family/friends. Nothing especially exciting his year. I do love the Canada day festival though.

This is the first year in a while my BF is off. Yet, we still have no plans as of yet.
Canada Day not usually a big deal here (Jean Baptiste Day steals the show), but hopefully this year there will be more going on.

I'm in Ottawa this year but not feeling super festive. I've never done anything big for Canada day. It's just usually fireworks at the park. I'm feeling especially weird this year because of Truth and Reconciliation. It kind of feels like 'yay, 150 years of destroying a culture!' Idk
I did see La Machine in Montreal this past weekend though and it was amazing! There are different ones coming here so I think I'll check it out again.

We'll head to Princes Island Park to do the stuff there, fight the crowds and watch drunk people barf at 11am and then we'll head to a friend's house for a BBQ where I'll eat a weeks worth of calories and wash it all down with beer and moonshine. Same old same old

Looks like a lot of fun stuff happening for Canada's 150th. We typically host a family BBQ with lots of food and booze. MH suggested doing a Canadian wine or liquor tasting (whiskey or whatnot).

We always do the festivities in our city park. Evening BBQ with friends and the fireworks at dusk. The only real difference is that our city is doing a bigger event this year- a 3 day celebration instead of the typical one day.
