Update on the dc app, 2 emails AND a phone call. Seriously guys, I get it, you are closing early. I'm not leaving my kid there, just freaking relax already. It isn't even raining here. They clearly want to get their happy hour on a little early today!

I'm pretty sure if I gave up drinking I'd lose 15 lbs in a week.

Southwest is offering to change your flight for free if you fly into one of the 5 airports effected by the hurricane. I'm now going home Thursday, for a few reasons.
I don't think my mom should be left alone yet & I don't want to get stranded at the airport.
Thank heavens I have amazing in laws.

I'm thinking Cadence might like the new animated movie Leap. Can someone here go see it and let me know if Cadence will like it or if it will just be a waste of money. I would like to take B as well.

tallb I have no idea how you managed everything with your mom while having a newborn. You must be a saint. Awl far from it. It was survival and I had a lot of help (in laws came to watch N for 2 weeks basically). And thank God for my sister and aunts coming for basically a month. Not going to lie, there have been many times over the past almost 6 months that we really wished she had remarried to take the responsibility off of us a bit. I'm glad you are able to stay a bit more until you are comfortable leaving. Hoping he's feeling better today. Did you decide on next steps?

cagoldi, that did seem like quite a bit of food to me. I prolly would've sent half of the "side" items/snacks. Does he usually eat all of it?

He got into acute rehab here at the hospital so that will probably happen tomorrow. He can only stay for 7 days and then he has to go home. I'm hoping for his sake that he excels over there because my mother is already frustrated with him and I don't want her being more bitchy than normal when he goes home.

I'm pretty sure if I gave up drinking I'd lose 15 lbs in a week. I think that's why I haven't regained as much weight this time around as last - I'm not drinking as much. I blame DH for buying crap wine when we have a basement full of the good stuff WHICH WE NEVER OPEN. Not that I'm bitter.

I just lied to my husband to get off the phone. He knows I hate talking on the phone and he rambles on and on and tells me the same thing 12 times. Lord.

I'd say he normally did about 30% of the time. But I'd rather offer too much and throw it away than have him be hungry. I also overcompensate a bit because sometimes they have a change in the snack schedule I don't know about so I want him to have an alternative JIC.

Sorry for the delay! Thank you everyone for asking, DH is okay. He went to work today. He needed a tetanus shot and got 3 or 4? stitches.
He was cutting a piece of rubber with an x-acto knife and his hand slipped and he stabbed his thigh. Thankfully it wasn't worse.

I get it- I would always rather give too much than too little. And if he eats most if it, then no harm done. My dc provides all food/snacks so I don't have to think about this stuff. Sometimes C has 2-3 helpings of the breakfast. But I have no idea how much B eats since they don't send a daily sheet for 3yo. I just know they they are provided breakfast (I feed them one at home too, before they leave), lunch and an afternoon snack. They can have as much food as they want at those meal times.

tgrimes once they give you his discharge information, the appeal process will be included. He's on Medicare, right? You want to file a fast track/QIO appeal. Do it right away.

Now insurance is denying acute rehab. Wtf? I'm on hold with them now. For medical necessity? The case manager for his insurance thinks he'll need more than 7 days at acute rehab, based on his age. The lady I spoke to was relaying the message to me so I plan on using that discrimination to my advantage. The case manger here at the hospital has reached out to the insurance case manager's boss but hasn't heard back. She told me I can appeal their decision and she gave me a local # to call.

He's on a hmo through united healthcare & some kind of local tri city group. I'd need to get his insurance card again to see what it says.

Secure Horizons/AARP.

The reason you want to do the fast track appeal is because it takes up to 2 days to make the decision, and they can't discharge him while that's in process.

The hospital case manager finally spoke to the insurance case managers director and they will approve him for 7-10 days.
Yay!
This was after I spoke to the insurance case manager whom was not delightful, to say the least. I was very polite because I didn't want to piss her off but she didn't sound like she was planning on changing her recommendation after his therapy this afternoon.
