Memorial Day weekend is Rolling Thunder here - thousands of motorcyclists from all over come to town to bring awareness of and support for veterans, in particular Vietnam veterans. www.rollingthunder1.com/about-usOn Sunday, they ride en masse into DC for a rally. The staging area is literally less than a mile from my house, and it's hundreds, probably even 1000 motorcylces - they close the road in one direction so the motocyc;es can all line up. Last year, we sort of decided on a whim to take the kids up the street to see and invited one of Maggie's friends from daycare. We found a shady spot to watch from and the kids loved it - the riders are super friendly and love to come say hi. Everyone had a good time and we have a bigger daycare friend circle now, so I invited all of them - four families - to join us. So now I'm trying to plan better than I did last year. I want to have breakfasty things that are easily transportable that I don't have to get day-of, because we're going to go up there at about 7:30am. Ideas? I'll bring juice boxes for the kids and bottles of water for the adults, and one family volunteered to swing by DD on the way for donut holes. Other people will probably bring stuff, but food is my love language and I have anxiety about not having enough for everyone. So, obviously granola bars, but what else? I don't know why I'm having a hard time with this!

You can make stratas or quiche the night before and bake them when you wake up in the morning ( or the night before, so they can cool and you can cut them into portions) They taste good at room temperature.

Mini quiche? Just grab one of those mini muffin tins, some pastry sheets, whip up some egg with creme fraiche and some filling. You can also do sweet one with a little creme patisserie and fresh fruit, very easy.

Pigs in a blanket? Mini croissants, mini muffins? I secretly love pigs in a blanket. Not secret, I love them. But I don't think I'm as much of a gourmet as you so I can admit it guilt-free I make them with crescent rolls. That may be a FFFC.

pigs in blankets are biscuits with baby cheddar sausages inside, closed up just enough so that you can see the top and the bottom of the weiner!
sacrilege in the kama house to use crescent rolls!

I have to stop myself from going because I would eat an entire batch. Maybe on a cheat day.
