We went to kindergarten orientation last night. There was so much information they presented I was tempted to ask if they could email the powerpoint presentation...LOL!
I am pretty annoyed with their snack policy. Instead of having kids be responsible for bringing their own snacks, parents are assigned a day and a specific snack to bring each month for the entire class. I freaking hated that about pre-k and thought we wouldn't have to do it anymore once kindergarten started. When we go to the open house in 2 weeks I think I am going to bring it up and ask why we can't be responsible for snack for our own kid. DD doesn't eat half the things on their list, so again, she is going to end up going without having a snack a majority of the days.

We have the same thing with a snack calendar & each kid has their own day on it but we can bring in whatever we want, they just have their "suggestions." So under your DD's name, it would then say what specific snack they want you to bring? That's so crazy & could be unfair. What if one kid gets something more expensive than another kid? Seems odd.

Yes. It will have the date she is required to bring snack and then the snack that she is supposed to bring will be circled on the list. It is very odd. Apparently in years past, parents were required to contribute $7 each month and the teacher would go get the snacks. But they had trouble collecting the money so they teachers were paying out of pocked. They wanted to put a stop to that, so this is what they came up with. I still don't get why not just have each kid responsible for their own snack. What's one extra thing in their lunch pail...

DS got on the bus this morning. I wasn't sure if the lady yesterday got it done because the last I heard from her was yesterday afternoon. She said she was working on it & "pushing it to the top." I had him ready just in case & we were outside. Lo & behold, it stopped! It's funny because the form they originally said to fill out says it could take 3 weeks yadda yadda yadda. One day. DS was so excited to get back on the bus. He hasn't rode since preschool. He could have last year but he didn't want to. I'm just glad this is all done & we're set for the winter tbh. It was not fun going in the morning & I also think he's safer on the bus, too.

I would probably ask her teacher on the 1st day of school if she can bring her own snacks on days she doesn't likem. I doubt it should be an issue & if it is, that's absurd.

Phew! I've been cleaning the living room for a final end of summer break cleanup. I.am.tired. Still not done. I have The Americans playing in the background. Sort of lost sometimes. Lol not the best show to not pay attention to, oh well. It's been raining off & on today. I wonder if we're still going to have soccer tonight. It's like Thursdays are doomed. It's uncanny.

misspeansmama , I'm with you. I would want to send a snack with DD. I fear DD starting school and having to deal with this kind of stuff. DD is obsessed with The Gruffalo. She watched it on Netflix 3x yesterday and part of it this morning. She gets out her book and follows along too. She can't say Gruffalo so she says "uhfa-o". oops I'm going over my lunch. OMG - DD is terrified of the Gruffalo. She has never seen the movie, but she is so scared of the book I am not even allowed to leave it in her room. It has to be far far away from her.

I've never heard of Gruffalo 🤔 A mouse is taking a stroll through the deep, dark wood when along comes a hungry fox, then an owl, and then a snake. The mouse is good enough to eat but smart enough to know this, so he invents . . . the gruffalo! As Mouse explains, the gruffalo is a creature with terrible claws, and terrible tusks in its terrible jaws, and knobbly knees and turned-out toes, and a poisonous wart at the end of its nose. But Mouse has no worry to show. After all, there’s no such thing as a gruffalo. . . . www.amazon.com/Gruffalo-Julia-Donaldson/dp/0142403873/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503599163&sr=8-1&keywords=the+gruffalo

DS wanted to go to the after school program today. I miss him! I'm not leaving him there long, just til DH gets home then we're picking him up. We'll probably have soccer tonight since it cleared up. The hourly forecast shows rain at 5 but just in case, he'll be home & ready to go since it shows it's clear at 6 when soccer starts.

OMG did I tell you guys yesterday he lost a tooth at school?! That thing was hanging by a thread in the morning. What timing. The poor kid though when I went to get him they gave him a tooth saver holder but when I asked him where it was, he told me on the way to the office to get the thing, he tripped & dropped the tooth & couldn't find it afterwards. LOL that's my kid! I had to talk him out of going back inside to go "look for it." He told me this happened while he was in music which was around 10-10:30 in the morning. The tooth probably got shuffled around the floor by then, buddy. He was kind of sad but then got over it. This was tooth #3 & the first one to actually not have the new one growing in already so he has a cute little gap.

NamasteBirches, that's too bad that the tooth is actually lost. He's already lost 3? DD hasn't even lost one...and there are no signs of any being loose.

We had soccer tonight. I'm a little annoyed there's a couple of kids that come over from higher up teams to play & basically showboat aka take the ball. Sometimes she has this drill or whatever you want to call it that she sets it up like adults vs kids & these kids come in to also play like the 'adults' so the kids on the actual team are practicing stealing the ball & passing etc but they're really not. Our team needs the practice not those kids. It's a waste of time. They're obviously good & not understanding they need to share the damn ball. It's stupid. This game on Saturday should be interesting/entertaining. Lol
