My cousin is marrying a woman from an extremely wealthy family in a few weeks. I looked at their registry and was floored, but I guess the guests on her side will probably also be wealthy and have expensive tastes. My go-to wedding gift is one of the wedding gift boxes from Penzeys. I didn't have a registry. For those of you who did, did it bother you to get something not on the registry? Would I be better off getting them the $40 measuring cups or something?

I would personally rather get penzeys. I did have a registry, but was forced into it. I loved when people went off of it and did their own thing.

It didn't bother me when people went off-registry. Funny enough, a friend of mine did exactly that and got us the Penzey's gift box and we loved it.

I didn't have a registry, but I think as long as it's something functional (like spices!) it's great.
Going off registry for super personalized stuff or decor is a bit iffy.
PS - I went to a wedding in June, and still need to send a gift. Their registry was small, and I think it's mostly been bought now. What should I get them? Penzeys actually sounds great, but I don't know how much they cook. I don't really know them super well, anymore. Can I send a check this late? Or a gift card... somewhere? Is that weird.

Penzey's is a great gift, we love the set we got as a housewarming gift. Or a gift card to where their registry is, or cash. Or I'll go to Bed Bath and Beyond and buy a bunch of my favorite essential kitchen gadgets and include a gift receipt with it.

Yeah I would think a Penzey's box would be a great idea. I had a registry (3 actually....my H's fault) and I wasn't bothered at all by off the registry gifts. Especially something fun and useful like good spices.

Lol.
