I have an iphone and my reminders app just never works when I want it to. Is this normal?
Does anyone use anything for this? Like I want to remember to mail the day care check. I want it to tell me that at like 9 pm when I'm home and doing things like that. I think of it in the car or at work and my work to-do list doesn't come home with me, or if it does I don't look at it at home unless working.
Need personal assistant.

Even if you set a specific time? That's not right. You can set alarms too but not for certain dates.

I set these things as an event on my calendar app. (I don't really use it as a full calendar, but will use it for reminders). The thing is, you have to select the alert option and tell it when to alert you... the default setting is "never". Not sure if that's true for the reminders app, but maybe that's why it's not working for you.

Same as charlotte. I just use the calendar for reminders.

stringy, check your notifications settings. Go to the Settings app, and there's a tab for Notifications. Apps are listed alphabetically, make sure Reminders has badges, sounds and banners turned on.

I totally had this problem when I tried to manually type reminders at first. Now I use Siri and have no issue. I also now have no issue typing it in, so perhaps something changed or I figured it out without noticing it?

Especially if you go into reminders and the event is showing as overdue (after the fact).

When you type them in manually you have to set it to "remind me on a day" and set the date/time you want to be reminded. Otherwise it just acts as a list and doesn't send you notifications. But if you use Siri and say "at x time on x day" she will automatically do that for you. It's way easier. And once a reminder is created, you can tap the info icon next to the reminder and set it to repeat (so if it's a monthly, a weekly, a daily event) so you don't have to do a new reminder every time. This is how I pay all of my bills, or remind myself when automatic withdrawals are happening.
