I'm at work until 2 and then heading to the airport. It was really hard to leave the kids at daycare today. Okay, I lied. It was really hard to leave H at daycare today.

Morning.
Dance party song of the day. Be careful, it's catchy and will be on repeat. You're welcome.

H took a vacation day and I'm working from home today. I'm currently hiding out upstairs because I had a meeting and have a few things to do. It's impossible to use my laptop around C because he just wants to play with it.
I got asked to call into a meeting from 1 to 2 which is the start of the eclipse here. Jerks. Luckily the best part is at 2:44 I'll be able to see that part.

Lilah has croup officially. She got a dose of steroids to help with the swelling of her vocal chords. I think Lillian might be getting it too since she's never had it and is sniffly today. My mom is going to Florida of Wednesday, but I'm hoping we're over the worst of it by then. Unfortunately, we'll have to stay home the whole week so I'll have to keep them entertained. Going to Target after the eclipse to get supplies.

It's been a long morning. B has been such a naughty toddler the past couple days and I have no clue what has gotten into him. And J woke up at 4am and was wide awake until 5:30. By the time I finally got him back down, he wouldn't let me put him down. I tried twice and he just cried and cried. Finally at 6:00 I brought him into bed with me. H was snoring so freaking loud and I just laid there wide awake.

DH got home this morning, yay!! We have so much stuff planned for the week so it won't actually be a restful time home, but we'll have fun.

I'm just at work wondering why my baby refuses to sleep. He's so happy and cheerful during the day, but when it comes to bedtime (and recently nap time as well) he just cries and cries. At best he's up twice a night, but usually it's still every 2-2.5 hours. And lately he's only been napping maybe 1 hour the entire day. I'm so fucking tired.
On more happy note, I ordered Chicken Shawarma for lunch today.

I'm thinking about dropping down to one pump session at work. Does anyone know if this will mess up my supply for the evening/overnight? I stopped nursing DS1 at 6 months because the pumping situation at work sucked and I couldn't ever get away from my desk.

Morning! About to head out on a couple errands; I want to make it home before the 'worst' of the eclipse. classymrsa sorry to hear about the girls. Hope your house is healthy soon! danib enjoy having your H home! jubilantsquirrel waitwhat sorry to hear about the sleep struggles. we are just coming out of a rough patch where c was up multiple times/night, sometimes every 2 hours. Lasted a couple weeks. Naps were a fight, too. Just this past week it's been so much better and she seems back to her old self from a sleep-habits perspective. Hope it's a short-lived phase for y'all.

jubilantsquirrel honestly everyone is different and it's hard to know how your own body will react. But I can tell you MY experience. I nursed C until he was 2.5. I was able to drop my pumping from 2, to 1, and then stop completely without having ajy effect on my evenings/days off. There were days where C only nursed 2-3 times and I didn't pump while gone. Then the next day I was home and he was able to nurse 7 times without issue. But I do want to note that I had TONS of milk, zero supply issue whatsoever, so my experience might not be the same as others.

I stopped nursing DS1 at 6 months because the pumping situation at work sucked and I couldn't ever get away from my desk. Speaking purely anecdotally, I did not have a problem with this when I dropped to one pump with DS. Granted, he was slightly older (12 months I think) by then and was eating solids on a regular schedule. Theoretically though I think it also could be okay. Since it's all supply and demand, if your body "knows" that DS2 is going to nurse at night time, it would respond accordingly and produce the milk when he is demanding it. danib or someone else knowledgeable, back me up here? ETA haha I see danib already responded while I was typing this

Thanks danib and dashook! My goal is stop pumping altogether and just nurse when I'm at home with him. He refuses to take a bottle at all now, so the only BM he gets during the work day is whatever they mix into his puree, which ends up only being about 3-4oz. I have over 700oz of frozen milk in the freezer and it just seems pointless to keep pumping when he's not going to take any of it.

I spent my first couple of hours at work texting with my boss's wife. She just had a baby a month ago and is having a rough time. She's considering supplementing but is feeling guilty, etc. I think she just wants to switch to formula because she hates breastfeeding. I told her a billion times that it's okay to not like it and it's okay to switch to formula. Poor thing. I know I was a mess when I switched with M. With H is more of a hallelujah moment. LOL. The only reason I lasted so long with him is because I'm cheap.

Some people here are sharing their eclipse glasses so I got to safely look at it for a little bit! I'm going to go back out to the balcony again in a few minutes. It's starting to feel kind of eerier though.

I've thought about supplementing with formula since he won't take BM from a bottle, but then I want to cry at the thought of tossing over 700oz of frozen milk.

I'm so bored today. Or, maybe not so much bored as annoyed and therefore not wanting to do anything.
I have a depo tomorrow at 8 a.m. on the North Shore (like at least an hour away with the traffic at that time of day) because the deponent was a petulant child about it and didn't want to come down to my office at a decent hour. She's lucky I'm nice and agreed to compromise (even though in hindsight I'm actually the only one compromising and am salty about it now). One of these days someone is going to catch me in a not-so-nice mood and get themselves educated on the full power of the subpoena.

Think he would eat it that way?

Think he would eat it that way? That's a good idea! I haven't tried a straw cup with him yet, but I think I might. He hasn't had a smoothie before, but considering how much he loves purees, I'm sure he'd love one. dashook, for some reason I thought donate BM couldn't be frozen? I don't know why I thought that, but I'll look into!

jubilantsquirrel that's awesome! Thanks for sharing. It's going to happen here at 2:36. Just partial but whatever. I don't have glasses so I'll have to stay inside. I guess it's going to feel like dusk or dinner time. So it's acceptable to start drinking then, right?
