sheilathetank I am so sorry for your loss I am back-ish, hopefully, maybe, I've just really not been feeling well and feel like I have no time for anything. This week I asked another mom I know who does some nannying/babysitting to help me out, for a few hours yesterday and again tomorrow. I had really been resisting it but with LO only taking 1 nap and how awful I feel it's been impossible to get any work done. It was great having her here yesterday. I just need to get over it... needing a few hours of help when I work (70% time) and have a toddler does not make me weak or a bad mom!!! No it does not! I've been very short with my H lately because he gets stuff done in the house unlike me...what he doesn't see is I'm the one responsible for both kids and feeding everyone (we both work). So pardon me if I don't have a wife to handle the rest of the stuff so I can deep clean or organize. end rant.

jewel, you are NOT a bad mom! Aren't you in 1st tri? That alone is exhausting. Add in a toddler, balancing life at home, and working and it's amazing you can make it through the day. If you don't have one already I recommend a cleaning person every other week if you can swing it. You still have to do the daily chores, but I don't have to worry about when I'm going to find time to clean the bathroom or sweep the stairs. Also, most people I know who WFH have outside help since it's almost impossible to get what needs to be done with a kid running around.

Hugs sheilathetank. I am so sorry for your loss. I saw some of the eclipse yesterday. People at work brought in glasses to share. I think we were at 92%, so it was pretty neat, but also not as amazing as I thought it would be. I think it would have been better in the path of totality. I'm just dragging today. Ready for the weekend again.

I'm dragging. 2 days in a row with really really early wake ups...as in 4 am. And no earlier bed time to speak of. I want my 3 pm coffee pick me up now.
I have a work event tomorrow afternoon downtown. I'm going to ask to WFH and hopefully that's not an issue. I have one work project that needs redoing and I'm sitting here waiting on the info to get going.

We definitely already have cleaning people, we actually upgraded to every week when we moved here, it's so essential for sanity. I am usually a big proponent of paying people to do the things you don't want to... but I guess it's that I want to take care of LO, it's just not possible to do everything and I really like my job and even part time I make good money. It's just a mental block that I have been working to get over, but the exhaustion of first tri is helping me get over it fast.

I get the "want it all" feeling, but that doesn't mean you can't have it all when you are feeling better. Taking a break now in then will be good for your relationship with your DD as well as your health. No one interacts well with a busy toddler when they are strung out and exhausted. ETA: Bottom line, don't feel guilty for getting help.

I am still around, just sometimes a couple days behind. I desperately need an actual vacation but due to circumstances of life and money, I am not seeing anything in the near future. I'm going to buy a lottery ticket and if I win, I am going to get a house with a lazy river in the yard because all I want to do is get a drink with an umbrella and float. And not talk to anybody.

Today was interesting...DS dribbled pee in his shorts 3 different times before he could make it to the toilet. It's really odd because he's been potty trained since late May. I wonder if this is going hand in hand with him realizing his little brother will make a debut soon? The book we read warned us about regression when a new baby comes around (or just before), so I hope this is just a quick little bump. I don't think it's a UTI either, because he was doing the potty dance before both incidents, and when we asked him if he wanted to go to the bathroom, he said "No!" all three times. But he did have to go after all....Sigh....
I played the Daniel Tiger potty episode for him and that seemed to help (DS said he had to go and took himself to the potty after the show was over). DS really relates to Daniel Tiger...makes me appreciative of the Fred Rogers legacy!

I'm in the office. boo. But it's so empty. Waiting for lunch and then I am off to Navy Pier for the work event. Which will be all about food. Tonight I have a girls night out. Actually sisters night out. We're doing the paint and wine. I actually got a decent amount of sleep last night so I think I will have a glass or 2 of wine. I'm so nervous about the painting, I really suck at art.

littlelion, painting and wine sounds lovely right now or swivelchair5's lazy river. Just as long as I'm not in the office trying to explain to mechanical engineers how software and servers work. I don't know how many times i can say "You can't just do xyz" before they will get it.

Remember when I said my mom bought K a potty seat? She got her this one: I love/hate it because it's nice that it folds up and you can put it to the side, but at the same time the step is a pain in the ass because all K wants to do is step up and down off of it. Which is exactly how I spent 10 minutes of Monday night watching/helping K step up and down 10 million fucking times. Well last night, after bath, K refused to let me put her diaper on. She is notorious for peeing on the floor immediately before she gets in or out of the tub and I try to get the diaper on her as fast as possible. So I asked if she wanted to use the potty first. She says yes so I bring her to the bathroom, set up the seat and then pop into the next room for her comb, because I figure it's going to be another 10 minutes of stepping up and down and maybe I can do her hair while she is distracted. I come back after being gone for 3 seconds and she's on the step, half way turned to sit down, and standing in a puddle. I felt so, so awful. If I had just popped her on there she would have peed in the potty. I made a big deal about how it was a good try and we can try again tomorrow, but omfg what a parenting fail.

And my painting actually looked pretty good even though I have no art skills. I even hung it up in my house. Have fun!

littlelion, I assume that they do paintings that can be done by all skill levels. Have fun! I am jealous of any type of girls night. I am thinking of taking Friday off, and doing nothing but sit around and watch Netflix. I am so mentally drained.

I feel so drained even though it's been a relatively easy week at work. It probably doesn't help that I made the mistake of googling something from the appointment summary from DS's checkup last week. I'm going to try my best not to panic until I actually hear from the eye doctor they referred us to, but it's going to be hard.

My H will announce to me "hey, I just loaded the dishes and cleaned the counters", looking for notice and praise. Well, I just gave our son a bath (and didn't let him drown or flood the place), got kicked and screamed at putting his diaper on, had to chase him around for 10 minutes before he'd finally let me put pajamas on, and then had to negotiate brushing his teeth and getting him into bed, where it took an hour until he fell asleep. But please, let me applaud you for your 20 minutes alone in the kitchen listening to music and working at your own pace with no interruptions.

I am here, just having a hard time keeping up with all of the different boards.
We also just found out we're expecting baby #2, so I've been mentally wrapped up in that. My post-O temps were all very close to the cover line and similar to pre-O temps and this was my first cycle off of the pill, so I am worried that my progesterone might be low. I have my annual appt on Tuesday so I'll ask them to run blood work, but I'm feeling anxious in the meantime.

Taitai, jubilantsquirrel, At my work event yesterday I tried a deep fried ball of cookie dough. It was not good. In case you ever wondered if that would taste good. Also, jubilantsquirrel, did I miss your update on your company picnic? What did you end up baking and did you win?

littlelion, I made the maple bacon fudge and I got 3rd place. BUT I'm telling myself I really got 2nd place because 1st place went to this two tier cake that had really cute decorations, except the person didn't actually bake the cake. She bought the cake from Safeway and just decorated it herself.
