We had a very clear view, nearly 93%, and it wasn't dark at all. Maybe like it was overcast. Here are a couple of pics I liked

See gif in other thread.

Sunlight streaming through the leaves effectively makes a bunch of pinhole projectors, so there are all of these little crescents on the ground that show the eclipse. It really looks like nothing, even in person, if you're not looking for the crescents.

Got my nerd on and made a projector tube with dollar store reading glasses. It turned out really cool! You could even see the clouds passing over the sun. Luckily it was windy and the sun came out. A bunch of Coworkers came outside to see my "nerd box"

We were only at 70% so I didn't expect it to get real dark here but I expected SOMETHING. I think I imagined in my head that it was slightly darkened outside because it looks the exact same now almost 2 hours later. Anticlimactic indeed.

Maybe it's due to the eclipse, maybe due to several nights in a row of shit sleep due to my (I hope) teething child, but I have zero patience. None. J is being challenging and I just have nothing. M is whiny and it's annoying me, who is annoyed by a sweet baby? I feel like a shit mom. I know it's just a bad day and tomorrow we can start fresh but grrrrrr I just want to go sit by myself in my garage and drink.
ETA I just took a good-looking at M's mouth and she does have a tooth that must have just poked through. No wonder she's been a whiny non-sleeping mess. Now I feel like a total asshole and am crying. Geez can today please be over yet.

Well, I'm glad I went outside when the partial eclipse started and got to at least see SOMETHING because by the time we were supposed to be at peak 87% eclipse, giant clouds had rolled in and I couldn't see shit. Dumb.
I'm also looking forward to the next eclipse. Our area will be in the path of totality. Totality is clearly where it's at if you're going to make an effort to watch an eclipse. The kids will be 7, and in school, so I assume their school will let them watch and take care that they wear the glasses. So yea, today sucked, but 2024 *should* be much cooler!

We were at 97% and someone described it like turning on the sepia filter. Weird, but not dusk. Sounds like we're planning on heading up your direction for the next one, pbandj714.

I turned on the live news coverage. I tried to explain it to O but he didn't get it. I tried making one of those cereal box projectors but the little pinhole of light just seemed like it was shaped like the hole...

I ended up going to the library with my kids and cousins. We snagged a pair of glasses to share, and there were several pinhole projectors including one long one from a fan box that worked really well.
H tried the glasses and said he saw what looked like a moon! So that's fun. It was cloudy, but the sun kept peeking through the clouds.
65% here, so not crazy.
I just got off the phone with my sister who traveled across NE to go to a nature refuge in 100% totality, and she said it was awesome. Got a full sunset sky, definitely late dusk, colder, and the coyotes started howling!

So E has been way into sitting on her little potty lately. While I was making dinner C was helping her sit on it and brought her a million books to look at. Once she was done I told her to take a couple of the books back to her room and bring a new diaper and I would put it on. Of course the timer for dinner went off before she got back, and I got busy getting dinner on the table since I was starving and I completely forgot about her diaper. We just got up from the table and as I'm washing dishes she brings me one of O's beloved stuffed animals and says "I pee on it." Oops.

Our blinds made their own pinhole projectors and it looked kinda cool lion the girls' arms. We were at 90ish percent, I think.

A close friend just called to say that she and her BF are getting married. In 4 months. And they want me in the party. On the other side of the country. Oy.
DH and I talked over the options and it looks like I might be booking my very first solo vacation since pre-husband. I almost started crying.

It will be a journey of self discovery.

I think a solo vacation (or just weekend) is what stringy needs too. Anyone on the west coast having a wedding or emergency you need her for?
