We'll be off to DS' eye appointment very shortly. It's a full exam this time. I wonder if his prescription has changed. He will most likely then get to choose new glasses since his insurance covers a new pair every year so why not? His appt is right when they open so hopefully this goes fast. He gets a little antsy in the office especially in that spin chair so it's usually not my favorite appointment with him.

This is going to be a long week! We leave for our vacation Friday night and I already have absolutely no desire to work.

bellatrix feel better soon! I don't think people will be working much in the office this morning. Everyone is talking about the eclipse.

I organized in my classroom this morning. I'm picking DS up from school to take part in their eclipse festivities after school.
I work this evening. Thankfully it's only a four hour shift.

I'm feeling a bit better. We grabbed DD & we're getting ready to view the eclipse.

Hey mamas. Eclipse is done here, I watched from my office balcony. They did activities in the classroom since kindergartners can't really be trusted not to look directly at the sun. I'm looking forward to hearing what DS thought of it!

We're home after the eclipse viewing at a library in another town. We went to a park first thinking it wouldn't be busy. Yea right. Word had it that they had 50 pairs of glasses for the first people in line but the line looked like a whole lot more than 50 people & it was only 12:30 when we got there. It was 90 degrees too so I made the decision not to stay because I didn't understand why people decided to keep adding to the line, they clearly weren't going to get a damn pair. So I remembered seeing the library system in the same town was giving them away so we jetted over there. Super huge line but didn't look too bad. They announced a couple minutes after we got there they had 100. Our chances looked a lot better. Then they said they were giving out one per family. Perfect for us, it was only me & DS. Not so good for the huge families with multiple children I saw More only perks!!! Anyway, we got a pair & got a great view of it. So cool!! I didn't trust DS so when it was his turn, I would literally hold it against his face without his glasses on just to be safe. I feel good about it. I was debating whether or not to take him feeling uneasy with him keeping them on. He thought it was cool. I'm glad we decided to stay at the library for it because it's cloudy home. Too bad.

DS loved it! He had his eclipse glasses and we took turns viewing the eclipse. He's researching more information about the eclipse as we speak. Perk of an older kiddo- he has questions and can find the answers on his own with minimal help.

Today was my first day of school. We took the students out to watch. About a minute after we got out, the clouds came out and covered it all. I was a little disappointed.

Hi! DS and I hung out today since we're on vacation but H is still working today and tomorrow. It was super hot so we went to my parents' pool to swim since I needed to get the pack 'n play from their house anyway. His nap coincided almost exactly with the eclipse, which is fine because a two year old really wouldn't get it. My parents had extra glasses so I had a pair and went out after DS was asleep as it was starting. Then my dog finally came out of hiding and wanted to go out around 2 while DS was still napping. It was almost the peak for us (we got around 80%), so I saw it again through the clouds and it was pretty cool. Then I donated my glasses to the kids across the street since they were using cereal boxes and weren't having much luck, so I figure that was my good deed for the day. I'm super geeked for 2024 though, I found out we will be super close to the totality for that one, and DS will be 9 and actually able to see/get it!
