How do I fix this? I think that teeth changed C's latch and I got blisters which have broken open and started bleeding. It hurts so much. Lanolin? Salve? Stop nursing (she's sucking blood)? I know blood is more or less ok for babies but OMG so much pain. Anything that can offer pain comfort?

I wouldn't stop nursing just because of the blood. My LC told moms at our BF support meeting more than once that a little blood is fine. If you've ever had a clog, she's likely gotten a little blood from that and you didn't even know it. As far as pain relief, try a little BM and let it air dry after nursing/pumping. Follow with lanolin or EMAB nipple cream. Go bra-free if wearing one is painful. If nursing is too painful, it's fine to pump for a day or two to let them heal. Those gel soothies things that Lansinoh makes helped me too. Oh and don't hesitate to stop her from nursing and have her get a better latch. Just like the NB days, you can retrain her to get a better latch. Feel better soon!!

Especially at night. So it's hard to be constantly correcting.

mathrun already listed any advice I would give, but I hope they heal soon because that is so painful.

DS started doing a really lazy latch MOTN a lot when he was that age (& until he weaned). It was painful but never to the point of blood. No advice but Ts & Ps for your nipples.

No advice but that sounds horrible. Both sides? Can you just close that side for a while?

You can also get a script for APNO. It has a numbing agent in it and helps things heal. I'm still using it occasionally for T.

No advice but that sounds horrible. Both sides? Can you just close that side for a while? It's just one side and I contemplated that. The other side hurts a bit but mostly because she randomly bites it (fortunately way less than before). She had blood milk all over her face after we finished nursing this afternoon (right before I posted this thread). Bedtime was a bit better as I kept correcting her latch sleep-be-damned (it turned out fine and she fell asleep fast). I also used my propolis salve (that I usually use for my eczema) and I think that that is helping a lot. My local CVS didn't have the gel soothies, so I'll have to order them online if this doesn't improve. But damn, M had a slowish start to nursing and then it was easy street. C was on it from moment one but we have had a rough go of the later months.

When I had something similar with LO, I ended up pumping and giving a bottle during that feeding for the side that hurt. It took a few days for it to heal, but I was in so much pain I couldn't have him latch without crying, so the pumping and bottles made it worth it to me.
Hope it heals quickly.

A salt water rinse (on kellymom) really helped me. I hope you feel better soon!
