What are your favorite things to pack for your kids in school? R is starting kindergarten (!) next week and I'll be packing lunch, so looking for all the ideas.

E loves all the fruits so I usually include a portion of fruit.
For veg, he loves cucumber salad (sliced cukes with a splash of white vinegar and sometimes olive oil) or carrots, celery, and/or tomatoes with hummus or ranch.
Main dish is usually a sandwich, quesadilla, bagel, rollup, pasta ( hot or pasta salad) or more snack style with crackers, pretzels, chips paired with cheese, pepperoni, cold cuts, hard boiled egg or egg salad.
Prepackaged, easy stuff I like to include for sides are yogurt, individual applesauce, individual raisins, fruit cups, string cheese. I try to keep a couple of these things on hand because they last awhile and come in handy when the fridge is getting bare.

I'm boring when it comes to lunch, I eat the same thing everyday for lunch so my kids don't get too much variety.
At the babysitter they would sometimes get leftovers, but that would be harder for school, so peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit, and a cheese stick or yogurt, hard boiled egg, cheese stick and fruit.
Sometimes they get a second fruit or carrots

grumpycakes my J would fit right in with E's eating schedule. You just listed many of his favorite foods. I'm not packing J's lunch yet, but when I feed him lunch I try to include a veggie, a fruit, a protein, a good fat, and a grain. Sometimes these things don't all "coordinate" but he doesn't seem to care. His "safety" lunch that he will always always eat is: Hummus spread on a tortilla Kalamata olives Tomatoes Cheese Cucumbers with dip Piece of fruit
