abominationsnowman How are you doing? I'm a little worried about you after yesterday's post. Hoping that you're not dealing with serious preterm labor issues. Update us when you can.

My OB's office let me know that I have a UTI. I had the urine lab on Wednesday...6 days seems a little lagging. Also, now I am automatically considered GBS+ until delivery, so that sort of blows. I had this exact same thing happen with DD3, gbs and everything. I was irked about the delay too (they can usually get culture results by 48hrs right?). I also did makeshift clean catch collections for the duration of my pregnancy because the ID specialist at work told me gbs in the urine is usually just a skin flora contaminant. Let's not even get into the BV I got as a result of the antibiotic treatment. I wonder if I just suck at the clean catch urine? My antibiotic is 3 times a day "take 1 hours before eating or 2-3 hours after eating." Ummm, I'm always grazing because last time I was borderline hyperemesis and otherwise I will barf.

shellyr Sorry about the UTI. I would expect the office to be more on top of things than a 6 day response about a urine culture. Have you had other issues with the office? It's easier to switch earlier on if it comes to that... I'm in the industry, so my standards might be higher, but I am not even confident that they would have caught it this early if I wouldn't have asked about my labs yesterday. Unfortunately, this is the only all-female practice in town and I'm not down with seeing a male. I've been so disappointed with health care in my area, especially as it relates to my dad. It seems like a constant nightmare. I miss my OB practice in Boston, especially now that I'm AMA.

shellyr does your office have you do clean catch? Mine doesn't, there is literally just a basket of cups and they tell you to pee in it. After my "uti" (I'm still skeptical and annoyed bc we had to stay an extra day in the hospital and since I only got one dose of antibiotics there were extra precautions for DD3) I had a routine of seriously washing my hands, using baby wipes to clean myself, peeing a little first then catching midstream. I may have been a little crazy about this but I dnw to take antibiotics again. They said to do a clean catch, but I fumbled with the damn cup lid, so I'm sure I had contaminants. Is is normal for GBS moms to have to stay an extra day? Now I'm even more mad.

shellyr are they having you do much different due to AMA? I was AMA with M, and the only thing they did was send me to a perinatologist for my ultrasounds instead of in office. They said generally AMA isn't a big deal.

amichelle723 I was gsb positive and didn't stay two nights. I wonder if it has to do with the rounds of abx you get before delivery. I labored forever, so I got several rounds. I Had him on a Thursday at 12:20 and we left Saturday morning.

armpants, it is actually less low key this time than with my last pregnancy but probably because I'm not bleeding so far! I don't know how much faith I have in my office though. I wish I could just do all the prenatal care and delivery in Boston. This place has a hands-off approach, I'm afraid and I'm very Type-A.

armpants, for example, the U/S tech breezed through my first scan and didn't even note the fibroid. It's not small. She should have seen it. In Boston I had an MFM Radiologist do my anatomy scan in real time. That ain't going to happen here. It's the same dumb tech.

I'm sorry shellyr, that's extremely frustrating. I probably would have said something, but I can be confrontational at times.

taketheshot, sounds like you could be a party planner, you've got it all! Ahh, thank you! I do love a good party! 😊😊 Teach me your ways. My friend threw a great party and just knew to do what things which days to prep. I've never thrown a party before so I'm googling all the party prep lists and stuff.
