Any big plans this weekend?
DS turns 3 tomorrow! So lots of food prep, cleaning, and cake decorating need to happen by the time our party starts tomorrow afternoon. FIL is hosting a party for him for that side of the family later today, so that cuts into my prep time a bit. At least I don't have to cook supper tonight.

letthewookieewin Happy early birthday to your DS! How exciting!! Our weekend started off well. Despite the fact that DS has a runny nose and a bit of a cough, he's been in a really good mood and extra snuggly. Since I'm due with DS #2 in October, I'm really trying to value the quality one-on-one time I have with DS right now. A big part of the day was spent snuggled up and reading on the couch. DS is really into Richard Scarry's Best Storybook Ever, and I swear I read that to him for 3-4 hours today. Does anyone else have toddlers who love to repeat books or songs or videos over and over and over again? I swear I read this Mr. Mouse story to DS like 20 times today. DS kept saying, "Read this one again please!" I hope this is normal. By the 20th time today, I was like...omg we need to hide this book. 😅😩😂

Taitai DS is the same way with some things! I'll sing him a song and as soon as I'm done he'll tell me "try again!" Rinse and repeat until I'm tempted to tell him I forgot the words.

I'm so glad it's not just me. We've had episodes of singing "wheels on the bus" for like 20 minutes...and I just can't help but think...why isn't he getting bored of this song yet?!?

We're heading home from our trip tomorrow. It's been good! Tonight is about packing and tomorrow is about laundry when we get home (the worst part of vacation).

letthewookieewin, happy birthday to your DS! Taitai, my toddler is only 13 months and he doesn't talk yet, but he will "ask" me to read the same book ten times in a row. I do shorter and shorter versions of the story until I get sick of it distract him with something new lol. His current faves are The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks. We're having a good weekend so far. Every year my husband organizes a special insect day at a local natural history place, so he was gone all day doing that. I took L for a short time in the afternoon. He fell asleep in the car this morning at 11 and slept for 45 minutes, so his usual afternoon nap was screwed. He was still so happy all afternoon and evening but we put we started bedtime early and he passed out in my husband's arms at 6:45. It's nice for us to have a bit more free time in the evening! We're at a loss with what to watch on Netflix tonight... We tried Ozark yesterday but neither of us was really into it. Anyone watching anything good these days?

We took E to a little children's "concert" at the local cloth diaper and baby goods store. Very cute. E played with toys most of the time and just passively listened while all the other little kids were enthralled. It just broke our musician hearts, H and I lol. Then we had lunch, she decided to not nap, and H took her to the science museum with grandma and played there for a couple of hours, giving me some time to lay in bed and rest. It was nice. I ate chocolate in bed. I'm sort of feeling better. A little less wobbly, but it's still there. The steroids haven't really bothered me much yet but I hear they can be awful. We'll see what happens. E right now is refusing to go to sleep but I already took my meds so I can't nurse her for at least four hours

fuzzylogic Glad you were able to get some time to rest while your DD went to the science museum. I really hope these new meds work out. mintyblueair Ahhh - cars and trucks and things that go is a huge hit in our house too. I also have the very hungry caterpillar memorized 😂😩

Since I know everyone has been intently following the toddler taitai nose blowing saga - I am happy to report we now have a full on nose blower! It's amazing! No more nose frida! jillywilly Thanks for the tip about showing the boogies in the Kleenex to your kid. DS loooved that and I think it was the tipping point in motivating him to exhale and blow his nose hard into the tissue. He now is blowing his nose almost like an adult!

Isn't it amazing, Taitai, when they can blow their noses?!! It was a happy day for us when DS started doing this too.

Taitai, I can't wait for this day! E hasn't had a runny nose in a long time but when she did last week I realized she has stolen the tube from the Nose Frieda so it's useless. She's so close to being able to blow her nose on her own I see no point in replacing it. Feeling a little better today. Frustrated because I'm still wobbly. I guess H and the kid will have to join me for grocery shopping because I'm kind of scared to drive. :/ Hopefully that'll end tomorrow. The PA made it sound like the steroids would dry everything up faster. Must have been one hell of an ear infection.

So, hopefully it'll happen soon for your guy.

cmb We had to teach DS over the course of like 5 days. We started by showing him how we do it, and we really emphasized that you need to breathe in through your mouth first, and then breathe out through your nose. The clincher was getting excited and have him look at the boogies in the tissue (that he had just blown out) once he had his first quasi-successful nose blow. After he saw the bogies, I think he got it and started to try harder at blowing his nose into the issue like normal person. ETA: DS is 2 yrs and 5 months

Taitai, yay! I'm glad it worked! Never underestimate the power of looking at gross things to motivate boys. We had our first poop on the potty a few days ago, and now DS is obsessed with wanting to poop on the potty so he can look at it and flush it, lol.

I've been kind of MIA this weekend. We started with a whirlwind Friday when I was able to get DS a last minute dermatologist appointment. It was a lot of driving, waiting, and whining, but we walked out with a new steroid ointment prescription and his rash is gone!!! His poor bum is still irritated because he's scratched it so much, so we're working on healing that up, but oh my gosh it looks so much better! Other than that, we've had a relatively low key weekend - it was a nice reprieve from what has been a super busy summer

But if it makes it more enticing to poop in the potty, by all means kid, look at it all you want is my philosophy!

jillywilly billmurray Add my DS to the poop in the potty interest. He waves and says "bye bye poo poo" when we flush the toilet. 😂 He loves being able to push the flush lever too. Toddlers!

I had a super crazy day at work on Saturday. It was so busy and the line of customers was out the door. We have less people working on Saturdays even though it is our busiest day and only 1 full timer and the rest part timers. The full time girl had her lunch and was late coming back and then was crying. She said a relative died and she just packed up and left.
It made so much more work to do to get through everyone who was there. I was wiped and went to bed early.
Sunday I met my parents for lunch and to get DD from them. I have decided to move up north where they are and stay with them for a short time until I am settled. I hate my job and haven't found anything better in my city. I think this would be great for DD and I could finally have my income go to bills and not daycare!!
So now I have been cleaning and painting again trying to get my old house to look nice to sell. I need to do this immediately as winter will be soon and I don't want to move up north in a snow storm!

Whenever we clean a poop diaper, he goes "night night! See you tomorrow!" 😂 he also tries to tell us we're done before we even get our pants down by flushing the toilet for us lol. If only we could get him to sit on it. Sigh. One day

Thank you! I think the party went well. We went with a fire truck theme because DS is obsessed with them--DH talked me into ordering plates and napkins to fit the theme and I made the cake. It definitely wasn't my best work, but at least it was recognizable as a fire truck.
