I really dislike this time/age for eating because it's nursing, purées, solids, sippys with water and formula, it's too much. Between her, B, the 2 cats and myself, I pretty much don't leave the kitchen, my world revolves around eating. Maybe it's a good thing she doesn't take a bottle. I long for the time that nursing and purees are done. 🙏🏻 PREACH. This is my life, but with a dog instead of cats. I feel like I'm constantly making a meal/snack, or cleaning up after one. ETA: I've done a lot more BLW-inspired foods with C than I ever did with B at the same age, one) bc C seems to prefer real food to purées, and two) I can just serve her bits of whatever we're eating for our meals (Or, you know, the cheese puffs we're snacking on. #MOTY) and it's one less dish to clean up.

dashook C is the same way, in that she can act 'full' from table food/purees, and still want to nurse a short time later. I notice it particularly after breakfast and lunch and thus prior to naps, so I do think in those circumstances it's a comfort thing. Also, lately she is a very distracted nurser, so she's not completely emptying the breast before she wants to watch Bradley, or whatever's on TV, or the dog, etc. Then naturally a short time later she's hungry again, surprise surprise. She nurses 5-7 times/day, and lately she's been waking up at 5 a.m. wanting to eat before going back down for another couple hours. I do know she *can* go longer in between sessions during the day if I'm not around for whatever reason, but generally if I'm here she wants to nurse. Bradley had definitely cut back by this point but he was also willing to take formula bottles which I think did a better job of filling him up for longer stretches. He weaned himself b/n 10-11 months and at that point he was only nursing first thing in the morning and maybe at night. I doubt I'll be that lucky with C, it's going to be more of a fight :/

I'm dealing with the opposite with C. He seems to be losing interest in bottles except at bedtime when he still drinks almost 8oz. The other day when we were out all day, he only had 3 bottles. Isn't it too early for that? I think he is ok, they tend to wean on their own especially once solids are introduced. By this age they know if they are hungry or not, I'd just follow his lead.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the weaning process with M is going to require copious amounts of wine

But even that one she rarely finishes, AB not as much bc he takes about 4 bottles overnight) and then both around 5p before bed they take a full bottle and another full bottle at bedtime (6:30ish). We only have 2 "meals" a day so far (purees, some tiny table stuff and puffs). They prefer to have a bottle going down for their nap. Bad habit but it doesn't bother me right now and when they get to one nap I'll be much happier to try and break it. Right now don't want to deal with screaming babies x2babies x2 naps.

Thanks vino and kleigh! I guess it takes time to get out of the mindset of him needing to eat every couple hours. I know he's transitioning to a normal 3 meal schedule, it just seemed early.

+1 to a baby who would eat constantly if I let her. I find that when we are just at home, she nurses, much more often than if we are busy and out. She's moving into having 3 meals and snacks so she kind of does eat all day.. sophiegrace Lillian was still nursing like 5-6 times a day at 16 months (4 times during the day and at least once at night). I was really concerned that she'd STILL be nursing when Lilah was born, but honestly when she was ready it wasn't that bad. She weaned completely at 19 months without much fuss. She wasn't really into solids until after she was 1, but once she started to eat more, it became easier to simply replace her sessions one by one with solids. And she dropped overnight on her own around 18 months. I was surprised at how easy and fast it went for us since she was a milkaholic for so long.

I would actually be really comfortable and happy with this same scenario. Especially now that it's looking like she won't be having WCM for awhile.
