I'm alive... last few days have been crazy! BFF stopped by so entertained her, my mom and niece (10), and nephew(8) are on their way up and they are running late. I haven't decided sleeping arrangements for the kids ... I just ordered appetizers for baby shower and I need to organize for NC... I maybe gone for a while! Sorry 😐

Maybe this belongs in the food thread but whatever.
Nursing moms, how often are your babies nursing now that they have started solids?
I feel like D is never, ever satisfied no matter how much solid food she eats (and she'll eat quite a lot sometimes). She always wants to nurse shortly thereafter. In fact, she's still nursing every 2-2.5 hours if I'm around. When I get home from work and pick her up she immediately starts pecking desperately around my chest and trying to eat my shirt. She's also been nursing longer than she used to.
I know I'm still making milk. I get let down when she nurses, I can see and hear her swallowing, and I'm able to pump 7 ounces (sometimes more) at a time. Is this a teething thing? It's not possible for her to eat too much at this age, is it?

Hii all.
Just sitting on my deck enjoying the sunshine while J naps. It's perfect.
Also, scrolling through my fav spa and planning a spa day for either when MH comes home or when J starts daycare in November, I cannot wait.

dashook It sounds like a growth spurt, how long has she been doing it? The desperate clawing at me and longer feedings have been about a week maybe. But even before that she never seems to get full from eating solids. I'm beginning to think it's time to start replacing one bottle a day with formula. I cannot pump 3 times a day at work anymore...I lack the time and the desire. Pumping twice gets me three bottles for her to have while I'm at work, which doesn't seem to be enough ETA there have been days where I WFH in the morning, and nurse her 3 times between when she wakes up and when I leave, and she still drinks all 3 GD bottles before I get home again.

dashook H nurses at least 5 times a day and twice overnight (he'd nurse every hour overnight if I let him though), plus 3 solids meals. Since you're still making lots of milk I'd say the recent change is growth spurt. C wss a boob monster and would nurse round the clock if I let him (well beyond the age where he was doing it for hunger).

J nurses 7 times in a 24 hour period, 2 times MOTN, and has 3 meals a day that she either gobbles up or throws down.
I really dislike this time/age for eating because it's nursing, purées, solids, sippys with water and formula, it's too much. Between her, B, the 2 cats and myself, I pretty much don't leave the kitchen, my world revolves around eating. Maybe it's a good thing she doesn't take a bottle.
I long for the time that nursing and purees are done. 🙏🏻
Oh and one nap, cannot wait to get to one nap.

Funny you bring this up dashook as I was thinking about it today. J nurses about 4-5 times a day. He sleeps through the night so these are day time feedings. He also eats 3 solid meals a day. He, like his soul sister D, is hungry all the time. I also know I'm producing milk because I get a let down each time and I can hear him swallowing. However, over the weekend I pumped and got maybe 3-4 oz at a time. So I'm not are if I need to be nursing him more? I was just at the pedi and didn't think to ask. I feel like such a #newb. But I was pregnant with J at this point in my nursing relationship with B I was beginning to supplement so this is sort of new to me. ETA I'll be at the pedi Friday so I'll probably bring this up.

dashook do what you got to do to make your feeding relationship as good as possible for you. I have no advice because M barely eats solids. When she loves something it'll still be barely anything so matter how far away from her last nursing session. So girlfriend ends up drinking a lot of milk. But to answer your question, she averages every 4 hours or so. She did have two weeks at the end of her last leap in which she couldn't get enough though. I was probably more sore after that than when she was first born.

E probably nurses 6 times a day and 2-3 overnight. But every feed is quite short. I sit her down for 3 meals a day but she hardly takes anything in. I'm already starting a 2 month countdown to her starting daycare. I really don't want to pump or supplement so I need her on solids pretty much full time. I'm starting to stress a bit. dashook it sounds like a growth spurt. If you don't want to pump more and solids aren't filling her up, I would for sure supplement with formula. But maybe more food first. She might not realize that food is filling her up.

I'm dealing with the opposite with C. He seems to be losing interest in bottles except at bedtime when he still drinks almost 8oz. The other day when we were out all day, he only had 3 bottles. Isn't it too early for that?
