Omg guys. Dd was up 4 times starting at 11, then up for good at 6. I thought things were getting better, we even had just one wake up a couple of times but now not so much. I have to board my dog in two weekends (puppy mom guilt!) when we go up to Vermont so today I get the pleasure of dragging a baby, toddler, and dog down to the vet so she can get her kennel cough booster. The vet office is small and not handicap/stroller accessible so the toddler will be free ranging during this ordeal. It's a very "not my circus....oh wait. Totally my circus." morning in the Lake household! One day I'll just post up with my coffee in a quiet corner and be all: But today is not that day.

Ugh Lakes, all the coffee for you! Maybe it was just her last party before she turns a corner. Good luck at the vet. I took our pup yesterday and do not envy you doing that with the kids in tow. The carrots' house had a shit show of a morning too. M was up at 6:15 so I had to finish getting ready and pumping with her in tow or screaming. DS woke up crying and whined all morning. H spent the whole time putting M's car seat back together bc it got a wash after TWO car seat blowouts yesterday evening. When we finally made it out the door, DS pooped while walking to the car so back inside we went. BUT both kids did great at dropoff at the new daycare again today. So I don't even care that it was bonkers until then!

Lakes and carrots, you guys deserve awards for handling all that chaos. Ive been drowning in horrifying toddler misbehavior so struggling to find a second to post. I ended up,after talking with DH,deciding to get an appointment with her pediatrician to see if we can get some advice on how we can help her be the amazing little girl we know she is. Today we will be trying to get to a park or small hike it's been incredibly smoking and hot here so outside time has had to be limited.

Oh man. I'm sorry for all the wakeups Lakes. Is she coming down with anything? Working on a new skill? Teething? SO frustrating when they're doing alright and in a routine then suddenly regress. Good luck at the vet! That sounds like a lot of poop carrots. All my sorries for the blowouts. Playing the carseat fabric puzzle post-wash always adds insult to injury. Yay for continued success with daycare drop off! Ugh. Solidarity for the toddler toddlering neekoneeko. I hope your pedi is able to offer some good advice. More of the same in the Bee household today. I was too tired last night to do some of my normal daycare prep, so this morning was a rat race. I've been making more of an effort to bring my own lunch to work instead of buying it every day, so that's just added onto what I have to pack. This is what I look like every morning trying to get myself and both kids off to daycare/work.

Has anyone thought about making the bucket seat to convertible transition yet? On the one hand, B is getting so damn heavy to lug around in the bucket... but on the other, I like that I can take him out and put him down in something contained when I go places with both him and DD.
Also I have to graduate DD from her convertibles and into the 5 point harness boosters we bought before B can move up.... and I'm lazy.

YES to the bag lady life ellabee! It's absurd how much stuff is required for my family to be out of the house for 10 hours. I moved DS to a convertible car seat at this age and he was so much more comfortable. But M is a lot lighter so I don't mind carrying her bucket seat around as much and the idea of trying to carry her while corralling DS through the daycare parking lot is enough to convince me to wait. I actually just picked up an extra bucket seat from a friend so that H and I can each have one in our cars since he will be doing daycare pickup now and I don't want to deal with remembering to leave the bucket in the storage closet at daycare. I'm hoping to make it to Cyber Monday at least and pick up new seats for M then. Also on the car seat note, DS is rear facing in his convertible. I'm considering getting a new seat for him and passing his old ones on to M when the time comes. Is there such a thing as a forward facing seat that costs less than a convertible? He's only 25 months so I don't think he's ready for a 5 point booster. I need to do some research. ETA looks like the 5 point booster is the next step! Proving that I never know anything about parenting other than my current phase. Whoops!

E is still in a bucket seat we don't carry her around in it anymore though.
E was up several times throughout the night. Once for over an hour not sure why. It was kind of cute she kept saying dada while I was in there with her.
Work is so frustrating today and I'm dealing with a coworker I'm not fond of. She is working from home and not answering my emails.

I'm trying to remember how long our older kiddo was in the bucket seat I think until one. I'm really torn right now since R seems a little long for the bucket but still falls asleep in there sometimes and I like the option to carry her inside but she's definitely too heavy to carry around more than that.

Oh I forgot that the point of the bucket is to let them sleep. If I turn my car off, M's eyes immediately pop open. 😳 If I had a kid who stayed asleep, I'd keep them in the bucket until they hit the height limit! DS always slept on the way home from daycare and I used to sit in the car for 15 minutes in the driveway while he finished napping. Poor M will never get that luxury!

Also, related car seat question. For those with toddlers, which side of the car do you have the toddler on?
Right now I have DD on the passenger side and B on the driver side. I might switch them when I put B in the convertible because it seems safer to juggle bags and a baby on the side-walk side.

ellabee I have M on my side and DS on the passenger. I don't have a great system for getting them in and out so I can't say that I feel strongly about our arrangement. The only reason for our current one is that I was driving around with just M during maternity leave so it seemed weird to always have to walk around the car to get her from the passenger side.

The only reason for our current one is that I was driving around with just M during maternity leave so it seemed weird to always have to walk around the car to get her from the passenger side. I always had DD on the passenger/sidewalk side before B came because that was logical for parking on the street and doing daycare drop off. Then when I installed Bs bucket base I was too lazy and hugely pregnant to tackle shuffling her seat over to the other side....so that is how B came to be on the driver side lol.

The toddler is on the driver's side and the baby on the passenger side. I'll join you guys in the lazy club because I outsourced the installation to mh.

What is with the bad sleeps? L has decided 5 am is a grand time to start the day and i. can. not.
We moved #1 to the bucket around 8-9 mo because I think he passed the weight limit? L is tinier and it makes getting in/out of daycare easier so I'm hoping he stays in it longer than N did.
MH had his follow up today and all went well! He goes back to work half time in 2 weeks for a couple weeks then back to full time. He is allowed to pick up the kiddos again (!!!!!!)

We switched around 9 months as well rinny but ds had maxed out the height. Such a string bean. I'm glad everything is looking good with yh! Corner neighbor invited us over for an unplanned play date. It went well! I think I might have this on lock down guys 😂 In other news, it feels like Friday which means the rest of this week is going to suck hard.

Our traveling circus survived the vet! When they took her back for her shots ds started crying and saying "dog dog uh oh". When she returned he greeted her with a "Yaaaaay dog dog!" A boy and his dog: adorably heartbreaking 💙

rinny, glad to hear your husband is doing well! ellabee, I guess we're also lazy. We have always had the toddler on the passenger side (sidewalk side for when we lived in the city). Now, we have a garage, and we very rarely do anything that involves street parking. So, we left ehr as is (rear-facing behind the passenger seat), and added the baby's bucket seat behind the driver side. We're not ready to pull the bucket seat plug just yet, but when we do, the convertible will just replace the bucket seat, same position. It'll be interesting when DH has to drive all day everyday with a rear-facing convertible behind his seat. Eeek.

judyblume14 - oooh good point. I think that's another reason I'll swap DD and Bs sides. When DH drives my car he needs the seat all the way back and I feel like the RF convertible will have more space on the passenger side. When he drives now he's all scrunched up so the bucket can click in properly.
