fierymama ,You should also be able to get someone to come out and scope the lines too. Basically put a camera down there and see why there is a blockage. Ideally they would do this while flushing lines to see what the back up is for. This is what the tech from roto-rooter wrote down: Jet and camera on main sewer lateral from 2-way. 6" c/o @ curb/ jetted entire line with root cutter/ line opened @ approx. 60' in toward house in 4" cast iron section of the line/ cut out roots & confirmed line open with camera/ multiple bellies, roots, saw broken piece of SDR in line/ possibly mechanical issues. Recommend replacing the line/ open.

taketheshot, you are less hungover than I was expecting. Tear it up this weekend! Betweenthelines, I was once in an accident, and I didn't have any insurance (because my insane ex-stepmom took me off without telling anyone, I was 19 and in college still). But "my" company still went after theirs and made it all right in the end. I bet yours will too.

Recommend replacing the line/ open. Ok, this might be a "replace eventually" issue. Is everything draining now fine? If it's a tree root issue it's been cleared, I'm not sure what broken sdr means. HELOC- it's a capped line of credit that is attributed to the value of the home, not how much you paid for it. Your mortgage will count for sure, as they don't want to loan more than the value of the house. All this assumes you are in The US. We took one out last year because we retoofed and resided the whole house and didn't have 60k laying around. ETA; re ROOFed. We didn't add teeth to the house.

Peekaru - We just "bought" the house about 2 years ago, so we still owe quite a bit on it yet, but we did not pay the market value price. It was a line that previously had a silicone liner placed to help with the root issue (we will probably also have that tree taken down/roots cut further back) during the work. He mentioned roots under the basement, so I'm not sure what we are looking at there. Everything is draining fine now. He was telling me (but didn't write it down) about the cast iron rusting out and there is a possible break in the line somewhere along the silicone lined area, but can't see due to the liner based on how the camera had to go up over a "hump". ETA: Yes, we are in the US.

fierymama, keep in mind that a recommendation is just that. A recommendation. You are doing the right thing by having someone else come out and look at it. You might need to fix it eventually, but it doesn't mean you have to do it today. HELOCs are also a tax deduction

Thanks for the information Peekaru. I'm coming down a little bit from the anxiety I was having. He definitely made it sound like we are sitting on a ticking time bomb with an unknown time of detonation. I'm happy we are getting a 2nd opinion too, and even happier they aren't going to charge us for it.

Listening to a documentary series on Netflix called "Killer Women with Piers Morgan". Since when does FUBAR mean to kill everyone? F*ed up beyond all repair/recognition is all I ever knew it to be and this girl is saying it mean to kill an entire family!?!

Only the man cave/office needs vacuuming and h is working from home and on a conference call. I can't boot him out until he's done. I asked that he vacuum on weekends and he says he would. We'll see. He found some flea eggs yesterday. On bedding I had just changed 😒. But I think it may have made him a little more... aware of what we're dealing with. Why do I think this? He locked the cats out of our room last night. They normally sleep in our room. I did at first too. It now I'm like, whatever

We made it to a playdate at the park. I just finished most of the vacuuming so now I'm sitting a min before I start my workout. Hoping to finish before Ethan wakes up from his nap.

You're in my bushes aren't you? This is cracking me up! Tomorrow! I already got a price quote which is decent so it looks like it might go pretty smoothly. I don't have the energy to haggle these days. I might have said "tomorrow" yesterday but I think I was just confused.

girlonabike, major bummer. I think I was 11+2 for mine. We go to the same MFM, right? (I think we discussed that but I could be wrong!) I go back Aug 24 to them for the fetal echocardiogram, I really liked everyone in their office! I see my regular OB next week, they just don't seem to have themselves as together as the MFM.
