My microwave died. Dead. In the middle of making pizza rolls. Now I can't eat them for 10 minutes because the toaster oven is suddenly like a real oven?
I don't even know how to heat up leftovers on the stove. Help.

Oh. Also. Does anyone have a microwave with a shelf so you can heat two things at once?

This made me laugh so hard. Pizza rolls are serious bsns.
I though microwaves were on your list of things to be scared of along with tin foil? I went 2 years without using a microwave once but then... I had a kid.

I went a few months without a microwave. I still heat things on the stove.
Good luck!

What do you need to heat up? We had no microwave for years and mostly used the toaster oven for individual reheats. It just takes longer.
Anything liquidy like sauces or soups, I reheat in a sauce pan. Usually on medium heat, keeping an eye on it, occasionally stirring. I reheat meat by steaming it because it doesn't dry out like the oven. Just simmer the water on the stovetop and put the meat above it in the steamer rack. Casseroles and such that were originally baked in the oven will reheat fine in the oven, but will dry out more. Sometimes you can cheat in a little moisture by adding extra sauce or cheese or whatever.
I hate to say it, but I think things usually taste better when they're not reheated in the microwave. It definitely takes longer, though. Especially with hungry kids.

The toaster oven is great for reheating leftovers that have breading/crust. Veggies and larger cuts of meat can just be sauteed in a pan over medium or med-low heat.

Is there a microwave with a shelf that's doubles as a toaster oven?

It makes dishes like you're cooking the meal over again. Which you are, I guess. But it will get you through until you get a new microwave. And you might find you prefer reheating some dishes the old fashioned way. I pretty much always do sauces on soups on the stove now. It takes maybe one minute longer than the microwave and it heats WAY more evenly.

Is there a microwave with a shelf that's doubles as a toaster oven? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes, but I have never heated two things at once. Plus you need to remove the shelf for most taller items (like coffee cups and measuring cups). My MIL has one like that, and most of the time the rack is out of the microwave. Plus, I've only seen them in over the stove microwaves. Which are pretty big. And then it becomes an issue if you like to use large pots (12qt or bigger), on the stove for cooking.

My condolences. I don't have good reheating advice. We actually have a spare microwave. I just realized that my microwave does have a shelf, but I thought that was for when you use it to convect bake something like cookies. I've never actually read the manual or ventured beyond the typical heating up leftovers, obviously.

I don't have a toaster oven, but when I was microwave-less I re-heated the vast majority of things in a saucepan on the stove.

My in-laws don't have a toaster oven or a microwave. Reheating leftovers there is challenging to say the least. Usually I end up eating it cold or throwing it all in a pan on the stove. Not worth waiting for the oven to heat up.
