First Week of December Randoms

Started early to ask, does the elf move tonight or tomorrow night? I can't remember what I did last year. I wrote a welcome note and put it somewhere and I'm calling it good.
I told DS the magic is only in December so he's been playing with the thing all year

Ahh I can’t believe it’s December tomorrow.

We don’t do elf but Thanksgiving being so close to the end of the month threw me off with the advent calendar and we’re traveling back home tomorrow.

Ours usually comes December 1st, but we’re out of town until tomorrow, so it will be Monday before I can get that together this year.

It’s rentry to normal life for us today (kids and I were both off last week), the Sunday scaries are kicking in early.

Back from a great trip home to see family. And I managed finish all my holiday shopping from my mom’s couch.

This is my first holiday season since leaving a retail job that I had for 18 years.

I am on day 4 with my family. I didn’t have to use vacation time. I didn’t have to ask for time off months in advance. The daycare I work for is just… closed right now. We all get family time, as a given.

It’s amazing.

I didn’t realize just how much of an effect a retail schedule was having on my family, but especially me. Like, I feel lighter right now. More Christmas-y. Actually ENJOYING the holidays, which I don’t think has really happened in 18 years. I watched a Christmas movie yesterday because I wanted to, not because I felt like I should. I’m considering decorating today, and not a couple days before because I feel like the kids need it.

I am the antithesis of Bah Humbug this year, and it feels weird and awesome.

I need to get off my ass and get on the treadmill. MH and DS went to the library so it's a perfect opportunity to watch not kid friendly shows while I'm on there. I'm so sluggish today though ugh.

That’s how I felt the first year I didn’t work retail, too!! It is truly amazing how much more holiday cheer you have when you have a more normal schedule and aren’t dealing with all the people. Enjoy it all!!

We’ve gotten almost 2 feet of snow today already! We’re due for another 10-18 inches by Tuesday. DS1 already has his snow day called for tomorrow.

DS2 has been loving it! DS1 took him out to play a couple times already. I baked bread and enjoyed the Christmas decorations this afternoon. It was so nice to just spend a quiet day at home after the holiday.

We made it home and the kids were losing their minds after being stuck in the car all day but managed to get them into bed relatively uneventfully. I’m guessing tomorrow morning will be a challenge to get them out the door.

Our elf always showed up on Black Friday with a treat

I did not do it this year since dd finally told us she knows about Santa and she was looking for her yesterday 🙄🙄 she said I still believe in his magic

So she is out now

my son put a microphone on his santa list so I got him one. Went to a friend's yesterday who had one and now I'm regretting this decision greatly...

Back to work and school today. 3 weeks until a week off.

I both hope these weeks fly because work is busy but also hope it doesn’t because that means Christmas and I’m not ready yet

We’ve gotten like over 3 feet of snow. Snow day #2 tomorrow.

I’ve got my niece (8) here now and she’s entertained DS2 all day! DS1 has taken them outside several times and they built a snow fort. I’ve kept everyone supplied with hot chocolate and then we made gingerbread playdough. She’s staying the night now since the snow really picked up again and she’s got a snow day too. They’re planning on watching the polar express for their unplanned sleepover.

DS got another college acceptance last night. And this one is his first choice. So that stress is lifted

I woke up with a sore throat and some congestion, and I have to run our board meeting tomorrow night while my boss is out of town on a family emergency. So I'm downing zicam and vitamin C today and hoping for the best.

You would have a blast 😂 Honestly I get my Christmas spirit from wrapping and boxing and gift bagging. Everyone gets their own individual theme and it makes me so happy.

Everyone having their own paper makes me so happy too.  I need to plot which day I can take off to do my wrapping because Christmas is really sneaking up this year.
