Question: how much notice does your daycare give you if they will be closed for a day (not counting snow days or illness)? My daycare lady texted me on Monday afternoon to tell me she would be closed Wednesday(tomorrow). We got it covered but it seems super late notice. We are in a center so I have no insight. Did she say why she's closed? That does seem like super short notice!! No but I didn't ask. Because it was sent via text and I was working.

My daycare lady always let me know well ahead of time (like a month) for planned absences.

Because she knows her school aged kids parent's need her for last minute snow days. She's never taken a sick day in almost 4 years. She's a unicorn though.

Should I ask her why she took today off or let it go. She's usually pretty dependable. She was only sick for about a week last year and she took the day her daughter had her baby off and the day after this year, and our first year took a day off because her daughter was graduating but that's all she missed for last minute. in the 3 years we have been there she only has taken 2 weeks vacation. I just don't want to seem like a B*tch since I missed my opportunity to ask yesterday. peachsmama, kamakaziartist, trtlcrzy, wineallthetime,

Why she took today off doesn't really matter, at least to me.

If it happens again I would do like trtlcrzy said.

It seemed like short notice to have the school closed, I hope there wasn't an emergency?"

So she took the day off to go the fair with her family...I think for something like that I should have gotten more notice.

I agree with Peach and Unicorn. I'd either let it go since she's typically really dependable or go about it how Unicorn suggested.

This is where I'm at, I know in home is a little more casual about things but people depend on her and that was unprofessional. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's what weekends are for if you have a weekday job. I hope she didn't charge for that day.

@christ01 ok, the fact that it was the fair changes things. That's definitely not ok, but I get not wanting to read her the riot act (because that's what I'd want to do because I'd be pissed) because she does watch your kid. I think I'd still say something like, "hey I'm glad you got to go to the fair with your family and I know that family time is so important, but in the future I really need to make sure I have at least a weeks notice, especially in a non-emergency event."

I just dropped him off. She told me she was so happy everyone was so accommodating. I decided not to really talk about it. I just said more notice next time would be helpful so I didn't have to panic about care

That's nice at least! As we just paid full tuition last month and school was closed for a week for in-service and then n's daycare is closed 3 days at the end of this month for training...still paying the full amount 😒
