Thanks everyone.
I ate way too much and feel so gross/huge. I don't know why I don't cut down on portion sizes. I guess I forget I have less room until it's too late.

I did laugh reading about your hemmies and runnies muscari My hemmies have not been good. Happy Birthday bsouls, This kid will not stop hiccuping. It's driving me nuts. He hiccups like 5-6 times a day for 5-10 minutes at a time. It's probably pay back since my mom said I hiccuped all the time while she was pregnant with me.

Hi ladies, sorry been MIA, things have been crazy. The ass thing got out of control, unbearable pain that I ended up in L&D for monitoring because my BP was sky high.
I saw a colon rectal surgeon yesterday who finally diagnosed me with an abscess. He then proceeded to try a surgical drainage with barely anything because he didn't want me to have anesthesia. Holy unreal pain, 30 mins of hell. I was feeling much better finally yesterday after being in agony since last Friday.
Then today, all the pain and swelling has returned and I'm back to square one. I'm a hot mess of tears. I see him again tomorrow to figure out what to do. I'm pretty sure he said something about surgery if this didn't work so I don't know if I'm going to be induced now or what.
I see the OB for regular check up before that tomorrow so will discuss more.
Just can't believe all this had to happen right at the end of my pregnancy, I'm so miserable 😥

jt2378 oh my god I'm so, so sorry. I hope tomorrow brings you better answers and some pain relief. I was so scared when I saw my colorectal surgeon for my hemmies but they advised against surgery for me so I just rode out the pain. I can't imagine the type of pain you're in, I can only imagine it's worse than what I had and that was just awful. I'm so sorry

jt2378 (HUGS) lady that's awful! I'm so sorry that you are in all this pain and that the torture of getting it drained without anesthesia was not a long term fix. I hope you get some answers tomorrow and hopefully some relief!

Thanks so much ladies 💕 I'm sorry to just jump in here with misery and I know we are all feeling done at this point. I know I'm not handling it well and need to get it together because it's not good for the baby but jesus it's hard being in pain and having to worry like this right at the homestretch
I appreciate the support and well wishes.

jt2378, yikes! That sounds awful. I'm so sorry. Will the doctor try and drain it again? Never mind reading fail. I hope it won't affect your labor.

jt2378, Oh my gosh, I'm so so sorry you're dealing with this on top of being highly pregnant. That's just unfair and I can't imagine how miserable you must be!! No need to apologize, please use us as a soundingboard if that helps any! ♥ Thinking of you!

I just AWed another piece of babyprep in the nursery thread. We (I;-)) decided last minute the wicker bassinet friends loaned us really wasn't gonne work (I felt so unhappy about it, which peaked yesterday and I even cried over it lol) so ended up scoring a 2nd hand cute little bassinet for in the bedroom and we'll use the other one downstairs for daytime naps. Now I'm trying to get the logistics to work to pick it up. I'm so frustrated I still can't drive a car myself!! Oh and my dad is on his way here to help me put together the furniture for the nursery. Yay!

elliecat17 and happyfeet9 I didn't know other profs hung out here! I just wanted to add that I did take the following semester off after having my daughter in late May which nearly killed me. I loved being with her but I need adult interaction. This year I have off completely from teaching to do research but have things set so I go in 2 days a week which will help my sanity.

yellowcat IDK if I would call my students adults... LOL I had one last winter email the night before her presentation was due and tell me she wasn't done so what should she do? I told her: "Finish it". The next day she emailed me that "my mom won't let me drive today because the roads are too bad" (we had gotten snow overnight, but it was the first snow of the season and we got 276 inches total last year which was less then normal so it's not like she has never drive in snow). By the time our class was held it had all melted and the roads were dry. She never did understand why she got a zero on the project.... But yes I figured that at least teaching one class would get me out of the house and keep me sane. It will force me to dress professionally at least once a week and not live in sweats and nursing clothes.

I'm so sorry you are having so much pain jt2378, I just got back from my appointment and I'm 1cm dilated and 30% effaced so things are starting to happen! However, MW doesn't forsee me going into labor anytime in the next week.

elliecat17 about 2 percent are adults but sometimes I do prefer their nonsense to that if other faculty. MH and I have made many parenting decisions based on how badly we believe our students are prepared for reality.

H and I have as well, especially since before I moved to higher education I taught in an early ed classroom, (and some of the parents were soooo unprepared too), and H worked after school care in elementary for a while.

My ob told me yesterday at my regular appt that their protocol for chronic hypertension is not going past 39 weeks! So she has me scheduled for an induction on the 15th (I'll be 38w4d). She could have told me last week, lol. I'm so unprepared (need bassinet and crib mattress!). I am 2 cm dilated so she says they will just start with pitocin on the 15th.
The complicating factor that I'm freaking about is that I've had annoying itching on my hands and feet only at night between 10pm and 6am. I mentioned it once before, but the other Dr said itching wasn't a problem unless it was more intense. Today my Dr seemed concerned and said it could be cholestasis of the liver. I've googled the heck out of it and it can cause increased chance of stillbirth if you go past 37w. (I'm 37 today). She ordered a liver enzymes test which won't come back till the weekend but I've read you need a bile acid test too which I don't think she ordered and takes even longer to come back (Liver enzymes can provide a false negative and stillbirth risk is correlated with bile acid level.) Sigh. She said to leave a message over the weekend if the itching continues. I'm just worried the liver enzymes will be normal but that I'll still have cholestasis and won't know. I might push for induction next week if I keep itching but I want him to cook for as long as he needs. It's just so nerve wracking. Sorry this is novel length.
