So my parents are coming from Hawaii after baby is born for the baptism. They were scheduled to be here from the evening of the 13th to the evening of the 18th. Delta just canceled the flight of the last leg into this area and the first of their leg out. They changed them to a flight that now would remove what amounts to the total of a whole day from their visit. My poor mom is trying to find a solution and I'm just mad. It's a big deal for them to come. I haven't seen parents since December 2015 when I went home for my grandfather's funeral. They have a farm and cows so it's not easy to get away and it's not cheep. I don't want them loosing out on time with the baby. I'm just so frustrated. Thanks for letting me vent here.

Just got back from my appointment. They couldn't find his heartbeat at first which I wasn't too worried about because I felt him moving several minutes before but it was a little worrisome. It took her 4 tries to find it. She said it's because he is low that he's smooshed. I feel so bad. His heartrate was also pretty slow today which worried me as well. AND somehow I'm measuring smaller this week then I was last week. So all of that has me a little worried. Se said if I'm still measuring behind next week they'll do an u/s just to make sure he's ok in there. As long as I feel him moving I'm good. I really just want him to come so I don't have to worry about it anymore. Also, we had major issues with the carseat. These people put in 20-30 carseats a week and have never put an infant seat in a truck with an access cab. They tried and couldn't get it level. However, DH's truck has the latches in the front seat as well. They put it in the passenger seat and turned off the airbag and said they feel like that's much safer. DH is a bit of a wreck about that. Opinions on rear facing in the front seat? Our other option is to buy a cheap convertible carseat that isn't a newborn carrier that will work in the back for him. I don't have an opinion either way. Finally, we did the hospital tour...or what they could give us. It was PACKED in there today and when we got there they were on lock down which sucked. But we saw the rooms, know where to go, and got the talk about everything so I'm feeling better about that. elliecat17, I hope they can figure something out! Otherwise that really sucks!

king26- at my appt today it was hard for my Dr to get to the hb at first because baby is so low, too. I started to get worried but then we found it and it was about 10 beats lower than it has been most of my pregnancy, but the closer they get to their due date the more their HR can start to drop to the low 100s. Then my belly measured a week behind (so it was the same size as last week), and then he decided it was because baby is so low, he's not pushing out / on top anymore, so the measurement is going to be skewed now. And then he did a cervical check and kid is at 0 station, which is damn freaking low for NO dilation to be happening!! So, I feel you! I have no idea about the car seat issue- can you get a second opinion and take it to a second location to see about having someone else try to install it in the backseat? Is this your only car?

addymac, It sounds like we have very similar appointments today! My midwife said anything from 110-155 (I think) was normal so he was still within the normal heartbeat range just on the lower end. No my car will be the main car and his carseat is in the middle of the backseat so I'm not too worried about that. This is DH's main car (his other is a cargo van with NO backseats). I actually looked at the other carseat we have, which we were saving for when he outgrows the infant seat, and it's actually a 3-in-1 that can be used at 5lbs. for rear facing. I think we're going to take that one back to the hospital and see if they can install it in DH's car then we won't have to worry about buying another carseat since we have one that *should* work.

Sounds like I had a similar appointment as you ladies. My OB has a new NP so she was letting her do the measurements and it took her forever to find the HB. Like, several minutes. I had felt baby move on the way to the appointment, but still.
But I was 3cm, 50% (or 60?) so decent progress from last week. Though the NP was not great at checking that either, so I got to have 2 checks (one from her, then my OB checked). Oh and I learned I'm GBS+ so I'll need antibiotics for that.

I'm so jealous you guys are getting checks! I won't get one for another week and a half. My MW does not seem worried at all.

Honestly, I feel like my vagina is bruised and someone punched it after my check yesterday. The dr actually said "I'm so sorry. That must have really hurt. Your cervix is so posterior I had to go around the baby's head to get it and check. My hand really hurts, I can only imagine your pain." 😳 DH then last night said "it sounds like you got fisted." Like the freakin dr had to shove his entire fucking hand up in there. No wonder I feel like I got punched. I think I need a damn ice pack down there 😭

As far as I know I am not getting any cervical checks either until I am actively in labor.. which I think is standard here? Not sure tbh.. I do know they will keep cervix checks to a minimum for me due to a hx of sexual abuse. Tbh I don't mind too much - knowing how far dilated etc I am doesnt seem to necessarily give any insight on when baby will decide to come?

muscari the only thing it does is let you know when you can actually push. addymac that sucks! But it also means you don't have to worry about baby make a quick arrival in the next few days, because the cervix will come more anterior as it gets closer to go (normally!) And I will be 39 weeks next week if they actually check.

addymac Ouch sorry your check went like that! My OB office doesn't do checks unless you ask/want them. I'm passing for now. Yesterday I had a crazy burst of energy and super nested from like 7am-9pm. I'm talking clearing out closets and scrubbing the microwave binge cleaning. It was nuts. I still had crazy energy this morning, but now I have hit a wall. My MIL is convinced I'm going into labor soon bc of it. I am having some sporadic cramps/BH contractions. So we'll see.

muscari the only thing it does is let you know when you can actually push. Yeah so if I am honest I don't mind not being checked until I am actually in labor. I have had enough folks and stuff up there during our MC and IF journey as it is those past years! 🙄

XP from the PAIF Ask a Grad thread..
Any of you have experience with a milk blister, or blocked nipple pore? I have been leaking for a while now, no big deal really except I have to change my shirts more often heh (somehow it mostly happens when I am nog wearing a bra). But for about a week or a little longer I have a blocked nipple pore on one side. I tried to clear it while in the shower a couple times, thinking the warm water may help but I don't think it is helping any at all. For now it isnt really bothering me yet but I wonder/worry how it will be once I start BFing....? And rather just have it "unclogged" lol. Any ideas??

I'd try that.

The LC who came to my room after labor said that I could use a hand pump to bring the colostrum up for baby for easier access. It didn't hurt at all.

addymac My H said the same thing about me being fisted. My midwife is so tiny so her finger is super small but I had the same problem where she had to go around baby's head to try and get to my cervix and even then she had a hard time because it was so far back. Not comfortable at all....plus I felt like I was going to pee on her from her pushing on me. pennylane that was me on Tuesday. I felt AWESOME. I went to work and worked for 3 hours, came home and cooked a ton, did a crap load of stuff around the house. I had a great day. Woke up Wednesday morning and have been exhausted ever since. Glad you got a lot done! Also, I have to laugh overhearing my H on the phone today with a friend who doesn't have kids. He was explaining how cool the latch system in his car is for installing a car seat. I didn't have the heart to tell him that's pretty standard in all cars. He was so excited that he can put the car seat in himself.

I will have to call my sister to have her explain how to use the pump then LOL. We meant to get to that when she visited last weekend but didn't. I unpacked everything and put it on the shelve the other day and was like OMG what's all this for lol. I wonder whether it'd help stimulate the baby to get moving, too!?! And won't I run the risk of milk coming in before baby gets here or is that stuff regulated by hormones that I don't have yet cause baby is still inside?

Yes, it's the hormones that'll make your milk come in you'll probably just see the colostrum come out.
