Friday morning I woke up around 6 am with contractions and dismissed them as the usual morning routine. However, they never stopped and two hours late they were a bit more intense and fairly regular at 10 mins apart. I sent my sisters a message that I might be having a baby but no rush (they are 5 hours away) to get here to watch my daughter because I was convinced that this would be nothing like everything else the last few weeks.
An hour later the contractions were almost 6 mins apart and really hurt. I called my doctor and they told me I likely still had a few hours before I would need to go to the hospital so we started getting the house ready for guests and I took a shower. Less than an hour later I was on the way to the hospital and seriously annoyed that I might not make it in time for an epidural because of my denial and my little boy's sudden hurry to get into the world! By the time I got to triage 45 mins later I was 7 cm and having contractions every 3 mins. These were intense! From there I was in the labor room for less than two hours, pushed for maybe 20mins and only had the epidural for 30mins and it barely kicked in before he arrived. Even my doctor was shocked. Once the epidural kicked in he asked if I felt pressure, and said I may be ready to push. He took a look and the head was already halfway out! How did I miss that!
Everything went so fast, my sisters got there ten minutes after he was born and my poor daughter was in the room for the delivery because they asked my husband to stay in case there were issues like with her (mild problems, she was only in the NICU for 45 mins). But, she hammed it up. When she saw him she yelled "baby!!" and clapped. The nurses and doctor were fawning all over the little flirt.
So less than 8 hours after labor started little Joey was here!
I want to add photos but am having trouble, any advice I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
