I’m planning a short trip to take my son (almost 11) to a concert in SLC in a few weeks. We will basically have one evening free and then the morning/early afternoon before the concert.
Anything we should do?
From a quick browse on google the Natural History Museum and Living Room Trail hike caught my eye

We were in Provo with my brother a few years ago.
There's probably enough in SLC for the day (that hike looks fun!) But if you have a car, Thanksgiving Point is about 45 minutes away and has a garden, children's museum, butterfly garden and other stuff. My 11 year old thought the kids museum was fun- lots of interactive stuff.
If he's into heavy machinery he would love Binghham Copper Mine, but YMMV at that age.

We visited the Natural History Museum a couple years ago and enjoyed it a lot. The kids in our group were 5, 8, and 10 then, with one who was a big dinosaur fan. It was an unexpected day in SLC because of Delta shenanigans, but the museum redeemed the day for us.

Somewhere in salt Lake city Marvin the seagull is wandering around a fast food burger joint looking for handouts of French fries. That's all I can say about salt Lake city

I was just there! And am zero help as I was in the convention center the whole time. The waitress in the Downtown Marriott Bar is very nice lol.
This may sound weird but the parks always seemed like they had something going on. There were vendors and events all weekend. Might be an easy break but still able to see some local offerings.

SLC and surrounds are super kid friendly and the parks are awesome. Because Mormons have lots of kids.

Definitely recommend the Natural History Museum, especially if your child enjoys paleontology at all. They have a glassed off area where you can watch paleontologists restore dinosaur bones inside and one of them was kind enough to step out and talk to my kids while we were there, which was awesome. The museum sits on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail which is worth walking along for a bit if you have the time.

Awesome - thanks guys.
Yes I figured the Mormon situation would make it a family friendly place. And it’s a short enough trip we really don’t need a lot!
