There are SO MANY 9-3 camps around here. And even 12-3. WTF, that's a class, not a camp. If I drive 45 minutes north or south I can get camps that go from 7:30-6. But in my town almost all end by 4:30 at the latest - even with extended day options. MH and I have worked it out that I do drop off and he does pickup so that we can both work full days. But it sucks. I don't understand why more options don't exist. 45 minute drive each way? Man, that’s brutal. Even with a 20 minute drive, I felt like it was too much and I was so excited to find someone to carpool with.

joy man, I thought camp registrations here in December was bad! I don’t understand why it has to be so early since it fills up within 10 minutes no matter what. It’s so hard to plan the whole summer that early especially since a lot of other camp schedules aren’t even available then.

There are camps that run 8am to 6pm here (oh, you pay extra for 8am to 9am in addition to 3pm to 6pm OBVIOUSLY), but you have to sign up in October. Yup - already planning for summer 2025 and her last day of camp was yesterday. This is how she ended up missing one week that I paid for this summer. (She missed two others for family emergency and illness, which I can’t be upset about). We ended up planning a second trip due to a wedding, but that tripped was planned in January. Could I have canceled that camp week? Yes. But I got a discount for signing up for x weeks so removing a week removed my discount. In the end, it was a wash. It’s a GAME. Meanwhile, my kid’s school aftercare is offering sign ups three days only, next week 3-4:30pm. We’re on vacation. 😵💫 Like in-person sign ups? My kid’s old school did that and it was so dumb. Like you had to show up one evening, get a number and then you had to wait around for your number to be called. And of course my number was called last and nothing was available and it was a complete waste of time.

I have no love for my old daycare provider for a variety of reasons, but I think the feeling is mutual 😅. Whenever I try to hit her up for a random day here or there for big kid childcare, she's ghosted me. But I see other big kids on her FB and she's gushing about hanging out with the big kids. Lol, but there have been multiple occasions where she texted me to pick up a "buy nothing" thing for her and I've done it, when she has been out of town. I think I'm getting played. 😅 1. Take the hint. Either she doesn't have room or doesn't want your kid there. 2. Wtf. You aren't being played, you are being stupid. 1. Yeah, I got that. This was me saying that. 2. I was trying to be nice, because I was hopeful I could use her for the 3 horrible days when the kids don't have school but basically every camp is over. I won't be doing it again

We are 2hrs away down the shore. I am driving back on Tuesday to submit this damn paperwork. We’re also driving back tonight for P!nk. In the rain. Wheeee.

H and I celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary on Wednesday. There wasn’t any nice anniversary cards at the store yesterday so this morning I ordered 2 from Amazon. Probably the oddest thing I’ve ever ordered from them.

It was a swim camp that has been more successful in teaching my kids swimming than any other swim program. All the other camps are 10-20 minutes away, but just have stupid, stupid hours.

My husband is coming back to the city for work and said he can do it Wednesday. I said “no. This is too important. I will do it myself.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

TF.

piratecat I have joked about not picking the 13 year old up at all so…. But 8-2 is not great hours Mine has been told to walk his happy ass home from more than one thing. Yes, we realize we are fortunate that it's in a place we can do that and that he manages himself reasonably that we can do that. My 12 year old was responsible for getting herself to and from volley camp this summer for two weeks and it was great (except for the "we're stopping at MacDonalds on the way home please can you ApplePay me" texts, lol)

Oh, here's one. We just got back from two weeks on the opposite coast, with a road trip portion in the middle. My youngest got an upset stomach our last night and threw up, and in the midst of her crying was just like, "I think we've had enough family time now!" The confession portion is that I'm pretty sure she picked up some of that sentiment from me.
