I don’t but I didn’t want to read and not reply. I might consider the ER if I thought there was an immediate threat, or possibly my spouse’s doctor if you have that kind of relationship. I want to hug you (or whoever you’re writing about). Best, healthy, wishes. Thanks. They were in the ER yesterday but getting released today and I think they've been in contact with their psychiatrist and have therapy lined up for today. Their spouse could really use some help processing all of this but they're kind of shutting down and refusing help from family members and resistant to seeking professional help so we're feeling helpless.

leahcar, I feel like he has professional help lined up but we can't get her to accept that she needs help, too. we offered to have other family members stay with him once he is released but she is refusing that as well.

I wondered if online therapy or even a support group might be more palatable for her.

Mental Health First Aid has a website with some resources for loved ones. Also the Trauma Stewardship website is more for service providers bearing witness to ideation but has some good resources as well for how to process what you’re experiencing.
