I was supposed to go up to my mom’s later this week to pick up the kids and hang out with my brother, but alas, they were evacuated last night and so I’m heading up to the ranch they’re staying at for a couple days.
I’m not super concerned about their property, but it just sucks to be displaced…again.

I'm sorry. I'm glad your family is safe and that remains. We lived in a part of SoCal that went through a huge wildfire, and I still get nervous about it here in the valley.

I’m so sorry loony. This seems like it’s going to be a particularly rough year for fires. I hope not but there are already so many. Hope everyone stays safe and the evacuation order is lifted soon. |

Ugh is that the one up by Royal Gorge? I'm so sorry. Further north. Our guest house has a direct view of Mt. Shasta through the haze.  It’s my mom’s birthday today, so silver lining is she has all 3 kids and all 6 grand kids here. We’re making an adventure out of a disaster at least. |

Luckily it sounds like the one in Tahoe National Forest isn't growing significantly. My WatchDuty app is constantly going off with big and small fires in our county and surrounding counties.

melohdy , I was wondering how close some of these were to you. Nothing terribly close, thankfully. The big one in Oroville was about 1.5 hours away. The Royal Fire is about 45 mins away. Otherwise, lots of small fires that they knock down pretty quickly. Thanks for checking though! |

I'm at a Library Conference in OC and our Program Manager had to leave this morning because of evacuations.
