YES I had to get three for the program I'm entering (my undergrad, a community college where I took summer courses, and my graduate.) Two out of those three were pains in the ass. I had to make an appointment to pick it up at one, and had to track down my online ID from my freshman year of school (it was a combo of my name and my boy friend's 😂). Is it wrong that if I get this position the only thing I can think about is the furniture I'm going to buy?? Oh and the house keeper I'm hiring twice monthly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Http://notjustnovels.wordpress.comNot wrong at all. I like working for personal satisfaction, but mostly I like the $$. Also, my reaction to your post about the transcript was holy shit, I was in college 15 years ago. Geez. And now I feel like a baby 😂. I was just going into grade 8 15 years ago.

Honestly, if we could afford daycare, I'd look into getting a full time reception job or something. I hate doing it, but the pay is decent, and I have the experience. But I'd be working to pay for daycare, which just doesn't make sense.

As employees what gesture from your employer do you appreciate most? Give me some ideas. I was thinking about taking them to dinner but maybe that's not cool. We are a close group but maybe they would just prefer a cash "tip".

kcrkcs, I would go with cash. The thought behind treating them to dinner is nice, but ultimately it's more time not at home/"at work". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Soooooooo ducking tired. So tired of being tired.
Dd2 was awake and inconsolable TWICE last night. Once for prob 30 minutes and another time for closer to an hour. Stupid canines.
And of course this is the day dd1 woke up before 6 when she usually sleeps until past 7.
I just want to sleep and for everyone to leave me alone!

Has anyone started time outs yet? This little man was not happy with me. After I let him come out (about 40 seconds later) he gave me a huge hug and then I felt awful for putting him there in the first place Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We are doing timeouts with nose in the corner. That just recently started like in the last month. Although before that she would put herself in the corner often. Don't mind the horrible pony on her. I was trying something new and it didn't work. This was from 2-3 months ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

dizzycooks, I missed the story about your wallet and phone? I hope you get your money back! Would the online teaching jobs be asynchronous? Those can be really convenient because you can adjust your schedule if you need to because of kids. Getting my transcripts from my BA 12 years ago was surprisingly easy last year. They are part of some big online system now and I just had to enter my info, pay a few $, and put in the address where it was to be sent. Done.

I forgot how these conferences suck the life out of me and I have no time. I head home today. Catching up around here. kcrkcs I hope your nose is ok! I'm always a fan of cash and or unexpected time off. We never did timeouts with DS. DD is much more challenging than he was so I'm not sure how I'll handle discipline when it comes time.

kcrkcs, ouch! I hope your nose is ok. When I was little I gave my mom a black eye with my noggin. For your employees, I think an unexpected early day or day off would be nice. I also enjoy when my employer provides dinner, but that's because it's fancy, has unlimited open bar, and I really like my coworkers. So I guess that would depend on how much everyone likes hanging out together. Out of curiosity, what are your kids doing that led to timeouts? I have really no idea about discipline, and I also haven't yet given too much thought about a philosophy. I'm starting to see behaviors lately that I would like to be corrected (mostly throwing food or utensils at the table) but I'm not totally sure what's normal or how to approach it. What things warrant a punishment vs. just telling them to correct their behavior?

crimsonandclover that's kind of my hope. Even if it just fits into their school day so I don't need before and after care once they are in school. Eliminating my commute. All those things would be huge. kcrkcs I hope you're ok! Dd1 smashed me in the face last summer and I had a huge fat lip. I'm lucky she didn't hurt my teeth. As for a gift, I'd bring in lunch one day (jimmy johns or pizza) and do a cash gift. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Http://notjustnovels.wordpress.com

tinydancer - we don't do time outs for dd2 yet, but for dd1 it was reserved for things like hitting her sister. Luckily that was only a short phase and she hasn't had a time out in a long time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So on the plus side I think I am an ok employer. Phew. I do early days fairly often and also provide lunch monthly if not more. They are free to take as long at lunch as they want. My number one girl usually takes a nap 😂. I think I will give them a days pay and in addition do a not quite so fancy dinner. I think we are close enough that the time together would be a good team thing but I hear that cash is king. 😎

tinydancer when we only had DD1 and she was this age I probably would have never thought of a time out. Redirecting would usually work or removing her from the area. But with 2 kids DD2 has picked up a lot of bad things from DD1 like hitting and biting. They have to put their nose in the corner if either hits or bites or attempts to do either of those. If they are hitting or kicking the dogs. If after multiple requests, redirects, removals, etc then they have to put their nose in the corner. DD1 has the choice of going to her bed or nose in the corner. And I only do their age in time so 4 minutes for my 4 year old 1 minute for my 1 year old.

M has gotten a few time outs, for things like hitting, biting, and grabbing things out of people's hands. We do nose in the corner, and someone has to stand with her to keep her there, unless S is in timeout, in which case, she thinks it's fun and tries to join him

lollipop that make me choke on my wine. Kids are so funny. We do time outs. I started at 2 with each of them so dd3 still gets redirects and "no, that hurts/not ok/etc". Timeout isn't working so great for the 5yo anymore. We are reading 123 magic.

The timeout talk is super relevant because I did my first timeout yesterday. Dd has started to hit/slap at me when she doesn't get what she wants. I put her on a chair for ten seconds. I had never done it before. I feel like I need to read discipline books or something because I have no idea what type of discipline we want to do.
In other news , dd slept in her crib for 11 hours last night... really first time ever!
In other news, she managed to throw up in both car seats which was. It fun to clean so she prob just slept all night due to not feeling well.

@kelltothekell - 11 hours! You're probably right it was because she isn't feeling well, but maybe it will be the start of a new thing? Maybe? FX!
Hope she's feeling better.
Did you get any sleep during that time? I would have been awake constantly being like OMG IS SHE OKAY since my kid usually wakes up 80 billion times a night. Or maybe I would have sleep long hours of heavenly sleep due to exhaustion. Who knows? My kids have never slept that long!

@kelltokell glad you got some sleep! Maybe this she's turned a corner?
We do time outs for hitting, pulling sisters hair, etc. It was much easier to redirect DD when she was DS's age. He's a little hellion.

We're on our way to the beach for the weekend! Kids love the sand and water so hopefully they're able to tucker themselves out enough that they fall asleep easy tonight. DS has a tough time when he's in a new place. But we're going to the beach so

I'll add to the sleep celebrations. DD usually wakes up between 5-5:30. Sooooo early. And when she wakes up she ALWAYS cries. She is not one of those special unicorn babies who wake up happy giggling talking to them self until someone comes to get them. Well, this morning I woke up at 5:20 and she was still asleep so I fell back to sleep. I woke up an hour later to her sitting up quietly in her bed. Just hanging out. I gave her a few minutes then went in to get her. She was so happy and excited. FX it wasn't a fluke!!
I have family coming over today for a BBQ and then DS has a birthday party at 4pm. So it'll be a busy day.

nellieoleson I think we woke up and checked on her three or four times! Ha. Also, she usually wakes up 1-2 hours after we put her down and gets in bed with us. I usually wait to go to bed until then. Last couple nights, I've stayed up until 12 then realized I guess she's sleeping better! Hope it's a good trend! We were up 1.5 hours last night. Back and forth! scorpioscuba I would be so excited if that happened. Dd wakes up and just cries... never been awake and happy more than a minute in Her crib.
