We are flying as a family of 5, domestic. I want to buy 2 carry on suitcases (we have 1 and it has seen better days).
Im looking at fabric, 2 wheel, but will go 4 if needed.
I was looking at the Travelpro, but they may not fit with the size limits. The handles and wheels seem to put them over.
Just tell me what to buy. Hoping to stay under $150 a suitcase.

I much prefer my hardside carry on to my 2 wheel fabric one, even though the handle broke on my hardside. It's much easier to navigate with the 4 wheels. I can be an absolute dick to it and it's fine.
Mine are American Tourister from Kohls. The handle thing is a fluke thing and likely related to me being a dick to my luggage. I can ride on my fully loaded hardside check bag if you need a durability point (and also proof that I am indeed a dick to my luggage).

I have a swiss gear, fabric, four wheeled bag. I prefer fabric over plastic, as well. I like the give and size flexibility. I did get four wheels but, like you, only felt two was needed. I do enjoy the four wheel situation, however!

I usually go to Nordstrom Rack, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx for luggage and buy based on what they have in store and what I like.

My dh has a travelpro carry-on, and it's been fine in terms of size for flying (except for like Europe where they have much smaller sizes for carry on). But the rest of us have whatever we liked from TJ Maxx, and those have also been fine. My kids have the hard-sided, and they sit and spin on those things even though we tell them not to, and they've held up well despite the abuse.

Two wheeled will have you dragging them behind you instead of beside you on 4 rollers. As a family of 5, we travel with each our own carry on., it's easier to stay together with your rolly beside you. We have several hard side Samsonite I got on Amazon. My younger two have soft sided from Lands End and you really can't beat the price. My kids do better with the soft side became it has side pockets and they access small items/chargers.
