I feel like we’re outplaying Florida in terms of shots, shot attempts, etc. The goalie makes the difference, unfortunately.

Depends on the game. Game one, yes. Game two not at all, Florida was skating circles.

I think Florida played brilliantly last night. Yes, Bobby is killing it for us and Skinner is having a tough time. But he's having a tough time bc Florida is putting the pressure on pretty well. They had less shots but those shots were a lot more accurate and purposeful. 

Edmonton is making some really boneheaded moves with their offense, you can't just park around the goal and think that's going to do it.

Florida is the better team so far, they’ve deserved these 3 wins. Edmonton had had bursts of excellent play but overall FL has been consistently good

The city is wild right now! But everyone seems happy and grateful that our team made it this far, so I think it’ll be celebratory on Monday regardless of the outcome. At least I hope so bc I’ll be downtown at the arena watch party 🎉

Oooh pls post lots to IG! I agree that it’s been a great series and we should celebrate regardless. I have never seen hockey fans in this country so aligned (well, excluding Calgary I guess lol)

Bob should have gotten the Conn Smythe. Period. They just couldn't bring themselves to let Florida have the whole night.

I have to say, the reporting on this series was embarrassing. Messier was practically choking any time he had to say a nice thing about the Panthers, and if your announcer can't get over their own bias...they shouldn't be there. Even after they won, it was "well they made it hard on themselves, this valiant Edmonton team." One of the other ESPN three was like "well, I think they have to draw blood rather than let Florida host the trophy on their ice" during an Edmonton home game. Really? We're going there?

We get to be proud of our team and have our moment. I'm sorry it bothers people that a warm climate has an ice hockey team, but we do and we won. And some of us have been rooting for this team for literally 30 years. We shouldn't be getting back handed comments that they'd never have said to Edmonton. Edmonton lost the first three games, so they made it hard on themselves too but they didn't get that narrative.

It's been really bothering me the whole series. It's not ok. Either have a former member of the other team on there too, or no one with a bias. It's insulting to fans who are just as entitled to love their team, and to players who put it all on the ice. Trying to dim the joy of our win is shitty.

STP I usually watch on sportsnet so I didn’t even know Messier was on ESPN until the other day. You’re right, he prob shouldn’t be on there with an Edmonton bias. He’s an icon here. I wonder how he would have covered it if it had been an Oilers-Rangers final.

As a Ranger fan, I love Messier but I definitely agree with your assessment of how the coverage was. I was rooting for Edmonton and it's hard to remember FL won the first 3 games after they really got it handed to them the second 3 - until you watched how they played last night. They were the better team and deserved the cup.

There are certain commentators (cough Aikman cough Buck) who can't get over their team biases in other sports, too. It's annoying. The best announcers are the ones who played for teams and you'd never know it.

STP I agree with all of your points except that I respectfully disagree on the Conn Smythe trophy - Connor absolutely 100% without a doubt, earned it.
