I was at the Garden last night. It was a tough watch. Truthfully, no team played well but Rangers played worse. And they’re both good teams. But Rangers were not playing playoff hockey. The family who has the seats next to ours, I said to the daughter within the first 5 minutes of the first period, “I don’t like this.” I knew immediately it was going to go that way because they each had two different styles of playing and unless Rangers switched it up after the first period, they were destined for that outcome. And they switched up the line, but not the style. Which, ugh, we knew FL is an extremely aggressive team, why didn’t we have Rempe even on the line-up? We needed an enforcer out there. I got the strategy but it was clear right away that putting out the calculated players wasn’t what we needed. Florida was checking TF out of them. We needed Rempe throwing hands. I’m not even going to talk about Laffy because he had a bad night and he’s a great player but you can’t have bad nights in the playoffs.
It was rough, both teams were feeling each other out. I need to see on Friday what they do with that info and how they switch it up. The Ranger-style they bring then is going to tell me how to feel.

Cher, I wondered if you were there. I was honestly a bit surprised at the Ranger play last night. The shots on goal number was shocking. But it's Game One, so neither fanbase should be wallowing in their feeling (celebration or disappointment) over much. I won't lie though, fun game to watch if you're a FLA fan.

Cher, I wondered if you were there. I was honestly a bit surprised at the Ranger play last night. The shots on goal number was shocking. But it's Game One, so neither fanbase should be wallowing in their feeling (celebration or disappointment) over much. I won't lie though, fun game to watch if you're a FLA fan. Haha I was! And yes, I’m sure FL is pumped. The shots were maddening. I will argue that Igor is one of the best goalies in the league (I say that as a goalie mom, not as a Rangers fan). When he’s locked-in (and he mostly is), he’s incredible to watch. He has this thing I call the spider where he basically plants his back on the net and just moves his body with the puck. Once you notice it, it’s so cool to watch. But he can’t carry the whole time and the Panthers shots compared to the Rangers…. It was a lot. Anyway, like I said, it wasn’t a great game as a whole. They felt each other out. I’m hoping we get ourselves a game on Friday. |

I thought the team let the goalie down, which I often feel in playoff games. Goalies are in their zone most of the time, they need everyone else at that level. Completely. Goalies often take the fall (goalie mom speaking again) but last night wasn’t on Igor. Soccer goalie mom and yes, I agree. I have to tell B that it's not only him out there and the other team has to get through 11 other players before they get to him. |

We’re game 1. Let’s see what happens. No quit. Both my girls had on their “no quit in NY” shirts last night! They’ve been wearing them for every playoff game and it’s adorable. Does theirs have a giant Hyundai symbol on it? I have 600 No Quit shirts bc the Blue Crew always throws them by our seats. The kids hoard them. Yesterday I grabbed one because I was going to cut it super cute for the game. It was only then I noticed they all had giant Hyundai symbols on the back. My dreams of my cute custom shirt were crushed. |

The NY fans who left early sure missed some excitement. Thst why you stay to support your team. We call them the “blue shirts”. As in the light blue shirt you wear under a suit, not the NYR. There are so many corporate seats at MSG. Almost the whole bottom third are Chase seats and they’re mostly company-owned. Those tickets are always being given out bc they’re not sexy like the Knicks. MH literally got a call this afternoon asking if he wanted to go tonight. All this to say, they’re not real fans, I rage about them all the time at games because they show up late, snap their IG pics and leave early. They’re dbags. |

When people actually pay for their seats, they stay. |

Cher it’s the same for the Leafs. We live an hour from Toronto, and it’s all corporate wining and dining clients at the games - but they don’t actually give a shit about hockey. Ticket prices are literally unattainable, including the nosebleeds. Makes me rage.
