Dd has had her first real dress code talk at school and she is mad. Her school does uniforms but they are allowed to pay $2 for dress down Fridays and they just all got told no leggings anymore (they really werenβt supposed to anyway) and that they will be enforcing it. She had a rant the whole way home today about how it was because they were to tight and were a distraction and how that isnβt their fault maybe the people looking when not asked to look should be in trouble I mean, she's not wrong. I just heard (against my will) a country song called "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" and it is just a whole ass song about women's butts and it's enraging that we can't even exist without somehow being turned into sexual objects just here to satisfy the male gaze. Maybe instead of dress coding girls for leggings and tank tops, we teach boys to keep their fucking eyes and hands to themselves and just let us live. (I will also add that I've got some pretty hard-core PMS so I'm a :smidge: more sensitive than normal)

We've discussed many times how the clothing rules for girls vs boys is unfair.

Usually not her own but friends of hers who get in trouble. The other day she was wearing a tank top with a sweatshirt over it I guess assuming that she wouldnβt have to take the sweatshirt off. But they ended up doing some walking outside in pe (which she should have thought of before!), so she took off her sweatshirt because she got hot and a teacher got on to her. I do, again, feel like she shouldnβt wear a sweatshirt in Texas without understanding it may need to come off so she should dress appropriately underneath as well. But I mean, could she not wear a tank top for a few minutes outside? I donβt know. At the end of the day I told her thems the rules. But yeah.

I wonder if any of the boys in the class took their shirts off and if so, did the teacher get on them as well or is that allowed by the dress code.

I stopped for gas on my way in to work this morning and somehow all of my clothes smell like gas now. I didn't spill or get anything wet but it is awful. I thankfully had a dress I just bought in my car. I hadn't tried it on yet and it's a little big, but it doesn't smell bad so I guess I'm keeping it.

We are probably one of the only families in our neighborhood now that don't have chickens. So of course the girls are asking. DH and I are constantly on the fence about it---our family LOVES fresh eggs but we don't want the work either. We do have the property for it though.
I think today the girls are going to visit their good friend's chickens that they just got yesterday.

We spent most of the day yesterday building a play structure for our next door neighbors. I can see it from our kitchen window so I figured itβs a good investment for us. We made good progress yesterday and hopefully we can finish today and when the rain stops. For now, my H took the kids to run errands while I get some work done at home.

It stormed all night, so today's soccer games have been cancelled. We're never going to get to play this damn end of season tournament...

Our house still needs a ton of work and Iβve wondered if weβd made a mistake more than once but weβre getting to know our neighbors and living in this neighborhood is everything we dreamed of. We ran into several neighbors on our way to the library yesterday and my 6YO has been outside playing with our next door neighbor kids all day yesterday and today and even my shy 3YO ventured over to their driveway on his balance bike. π₯°

And Iβm relatively introverted and not social so this is all new but I think this is what we wanted/needed as a family.

I'm also pretty introverted but I feel so much more comfortable where I live now because I see people and say hi and have short interactions frequently. They aren't overwhelming, and make me feel connected without having to do tone of socializing.

It's finally done storming thank goodness. We went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch and then stopped at HEB for some fruit afterwards and it was pouring. I would have skipped it but we were completely out of fruit.

We had a great weekend! The weather was beautiful all weekend and we enjoyed every minute. I took SS and DS1 to my SILs and we walked up to the local maple festival. The boys enjoyed maple treats and some rides.
Everyone else is sleeping and Iβm not far behind. Love nice weekends!

They make grassy pad things you can put in there and take out and just spray down with a hose, that helps a lot. Iβve heard sand is a lot easier to clean also, but I havenβt tried that yet. Get 3 or 4 and see if you like it and if not you have a bunch of neighbors who will probably take them off your hands!
