I'm on my second cup of coffee because it's so cold in the office today.
There's a huge event later this week and my request to WFH was denied. I'm annoyed because my presence is not needed.

After trying to pick out a backsplash over the weekend which has led to me thinking I need to repaint my kitchen. We have dark wood cabinets, wood vinyl flooring, granite countertops with shades of beige/gray. Right now we have off white walls but we're looking at white or light backsplashes so I'm thinking repainting the walls. I'm leaning towards something in the blue family but am not finding much inspiration other than blue cabinets. I inherited a set of these cannisters that sit on the counter - otherwise I don't have much for decor inspiration that I'm attached to. Any advice?

bearfootzcontinued, how does that blue look next to your existing cabinets? I can almost picture dark cabinets with that blue as the wall color, and then add in some blues and whites in dish towels and curtains or find similar accent pieces in blue and white to go with the canisters. but it might be better with white walls and heavier accents of blue instead of the wallcolor being blue

One wall will pretty much have backsplash between the cabinet and countertop. I’m debating if I do backsplash for consistency on the opposing call of cabinets or just wallpaper it, or leave it painted. There’s not a sink/stove along that countertop section.

I've been taking cooking classes as my hobby this year. Usually there are 10-15 people there, last night I was the only one who showed up! It was so cool having a private lesson to myself. And because they had already bought and portioned food for more people who signed up, I got to cook and take home all of it which I can have for lunch today. The meal was my favorite one I have made there so far, and of course husband tries the leftovers and says he hates it. LOL we have such different tastes.

What was on the menu last night? Lemon herb marinated grilled lamb chop, roasted carrots with pomegranate honey glaze and crushed pistachios, and jeweled basmati rice with saffron, spices, shallot, dried fruits, slivered almonds all mixed in. It was so good! There was also supposed to be tzatziki and ice cream but I don't eat dairy so I said you're off the hook for having to show me those. She had already made some baked phyllo brushed in honey to fold into the ice cream so I just ate that as a snack lol

Are you leaning towards a blueish color for the backsplash or the potential paint color? I’m confusing myself. ETA: And when you say the opposing wall has cabinets, is there a counter under them where the potential backsplash would also be from the cabinets to the counters?

I would leave the walls white/eggshell, anything else would make it too dark. Do the backsplash, wallpaper (with blue accents) on the opposite wall and consider painting the island a dark blue.

Luda will be at our rodeo. On DH's birthday. He refuses to attend. I might have to abandon him on his birthday.

We had a really fun long weekend in NYC and visiting my sister’s family. We got back late last night and the big kid did not want to go to camp today. On the one hand, I told him I understand it must be hard after a busy weekend of traveling to then turn around and start camp, but also he gets to spend the day on a beautiful farm on the ocean with adorable baby animals so I don’t actually feel bad about it.

My brain is not functioning right now. I walked out the door focused on getting to B's dental office for the school note I'd been requesting since Monday and completely forgot my watch and my wedding rings. Coffeeeeeeee.

I was asked to take on some responsibilities from my prior role. While I am open to additional work and should be able to manage my time to accommodate it, I was really hoping that I could take on new tasks that would grow my career vs. getting pulled back into the old one. But with restructuring, layoffs, and management that is sure the sky is falling, it's very much a "be happy you have a job" mentality around here right now so I'm not really in a position to say no.
Being a grown up is stupid.

I really like my manager and team, just corporate America can suck it.

I did something to injure my wrist while we were on a college tour on Monday. It's the wrist previously hurt from remodeling the old bathroom. I rested it yesterday, but it's not improving. Ice and icyhot have not helped. I'm wearing my old brace but it's just throbbing. Tylenol slightly helped. I need to call the doc and see if I can get in soon. what the heck did you do on a college tour to hurt your wrist lady? Or is it kinda like rolling over in bed and hurting yourself, one of those i have no idea how I could have hurt myself doing that
