I feel like a lot people forget or skip over the fact that the Fae in ACOTAR and ToG are supposed to be more animalistic than humans, so yeah they do growl and hiss and such. It doesn’t really take away from the story

⬆️⬆️⬆️ She’s put out several more of these and they are all hilarious. Check out her page. But yeah, I’m much less interested in seeing what ACOTAR is all about after this because wtf are these expressions 😂 I mean to be fair, you could do this with a whole host of book series. I don’t think it takes away from the whole of the book, imo. Yes I have definitely read some of these (and similar expressions) in many books so I agree, which is why it made me laugh in the first place! The more I read through the comments, the more other people made suggestions that definitely had me head scratching. It might not take away from the book for a lot of people, but this sort of stuff always jumps out at me and does take away something, for me. Definitely not everyone. Clearly these books are well loved, I just don’t think they are for me. Heck, that’s like me and the entire romance genre. It’s just a me thing.

It doesn’t really take away from the story Oh ok see I don’t know anything about the books, so that makes sense for some of the animalistic traits! Interesting! It is still funny (to me) to watch her act them out, because that’s what I would picture in my head

Finished A Court of Mist and Fury last night. 5 stars. My one criticism is I think it’s unrealistic that Feyre is supposed to be 19/20 in these books. I don’t see her as much older because by 25 I definitely would have appreciated being kept indoors and fed elaborate meals with nothing to do but paint 😂

I read Finding Mr. Purrfect by Codi Gary because it was the 2nd book to A Cat Cafe Christmas which I loved and thought was so cute. But this one was not good. 2 stars.
My hold for the 3rd Wright Brothers book, Bending the Rules came in so I started that today.

I just finished A Little Life and I’m a wreck. I read a review that basically said, “This was a miserable experience. 5 stars. I can’t in good conscience recommend this book to anyone.” So true. It is both beautiful and soul crushing. It is definitely a 5 star book for me and I will be thinking about these characters for a long time. I’m going to read Neon Gods next and let the smut heal me 🤣 This sums up every review of a little life that I've ever seen. I'm not sure i can do it 🤣 I believe the reviews I think it really just depends on the person and what kind of reader they are. It reminds me of shows like This Is Us where it’s just structured to rip your heart out. But clearly there is some part of us (or I guess some of us lol) that enjoys that. Or the storytelling makes it worth it. But you need to know going in that that is what it is. And make sure you know all of the trigger warnings!

I lied. I didn’t start Neon Gods. My library has a display of books that are popular books that you can only check out for a week and they had Remarkably Bright Creatures. So I snagged that and read it all in one go. It was a super quick read and sweet. I gave it 4 stars.

I finished Strictly Not Yours last night. It was my least favorite in this series and only meh, but I'll still read the last two that are set to be released.
I'll figure out what else I want to start later today.

I visited The Ripped Bodice bookstore yesterday for the first time. For anyone that reads romance, it’s the best place. Even with doing my very best to control myself I still spent $100. I bought three books, two stickers, a pin and a candle.
The books I bought were Spoiler Alert, Assistant to the Villian and Rhapsodic. I will get to them at some point. 😂

You know? Regardless of age. But mostly it seemed less believable to me in the way she seemed to understand the ways in which the Fae around her felt about certain things when she had barely lived a human adult life yet. Idk how to explain it, but I forgot how old she was for a while and then googled to remind myself and I was like "wait, she JUST turned 20? No, no, that's bullshit." lol.

I just finished The Teacher, and was just kind of disappointed. It was gripping, as her books usually are. But I disliked all the characters, lol. I gave it 3 stars. Same here

I read A Deadly Influence by Mike Omer and loved it. A thriller with murder, cults, kidnapping you couldn't ask for more. It's the start of the series so I am starting the next book today. I also finished Breathless by Amy McCullough and really enjoyed it as well.
I dont know if I said last week that I read No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall. I usually love her books but this one was pretty meh.

I can't get into it but I hate dnf'ing arcs. But at this point I probably should since it's been out for a few weeks 😬 I usually love her stuff too.

The only other one I read of hers is what lies in the woods and to me, this one's better.

I just put Kristin Hannah's The Women on hold. #1,016 LOL. The first book I read by her was Home Front, and I'm sure this will be just as powerful.

I finally finished Crescent City 3. I did like it and thought it was a satisfying end to Bryce’s story but that book was nearly 1000 pages. It needed to be pared down a bit.
Now I think I’ll read some of those short stories y’all are talking about to balance that out, lol.

I got about 100 pages into the women and enjoying it so far.
This is why I love her books I’m not a huge historical fiction reader and yet she paints these scenes that make me love it

Village In The Dark came out today and the only library of the four I have linked that has it is NYC. My card is still in limbo though. Apparently you need to verify residency after one year to maintain access and they're like two weeks behind on verifications. Wahhhh.

BOTM BOTY Finalists are posted
None of This is True by Lisa Jewell Shark Heart by Emily Habeck Weyward by Emilia Hart The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez
This year was the first year I purposely tried to avoid certain books so I could actually get a free book I haven’t read yet. In the past I’ve been fortunate enough to get BOTM to give me a free credit to use if I have read all the books (or to be honest, sometimes I’ve fibbed and said I have read them all if there were options I frankly had zero interest in reading 🤷🏻♀️🫣 ). I just didn’t want to have to go through the effort of doing that again this year. What ended up helping, in addition to that idea of not reading certain books, was making my own effort last year to read my backstock of old purchased books sitting on my shelf. It was bothering me to see those purchased books starting to stack up. It stopped me from reading as many newer releases last year.
Anyway, with all that said, early last year people started talking about a few books being potential BOTY picks and Weyward was one of them, so I made a mental note to not read that one. I’ll probably go with that. And in the end, I’ll end up reading it on my paperwhite anyway because that’s the way I prefer to read 🤣😂
These book mind games I play…. 🤪

I finished The Book of Accidents by Chuck Wendig and it was fantastic. A great horror story, that also had a great family story at it's heart and some very creepy scenes. I think it's my favourite book of the year so far, I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes horror.
I am currently reading The September House and I love the premise and am having fun with it.

Our bookstore gives ARCs based on amount spent and I've won a couple on Goodreads. I have failed to read and review any of them prior to their release date and it makes me feel guilty. I wonder how many Haily Mary's my priest would tell me to say if I busted that out in confession (if I actually went to confession, that is).
