I thought we had a thread on this, but I can’t find it. There is now a second season of the HBO doc - this one has Natalia talking. Here is her story en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natalia_GraceWhile I don’t think she is as old as they made her, I do not think she was 6 when they adopted her.

This whole thing is so bizarre. I didn't watch but can't they look at dental records or something in order to prove her correct age?

I thought they spoke to her birth mom, which confirmed her age. It's been awhile since I watched the first season though.

Hotcoconuts82, they had a dentist who was a "family friend" say she was the age they wanted her to be.

According to that wikipedia page they confirmed the birth mother and the date of birth with the hospital, so I don't know what the adoptive "parents" are thinking other than just trying to get rid of her, which is just sad.

The thing is, there is no way to know that was actually her. It could have been a sibling.

I mean the baby that was born being Natalia. The mom is her birth mother, but she may not be the baby with the birth certificate.

Dental records will give you a ballpark age but can be off by a couple years in either direction.

Well, if she were the age the adoptive parents are claiming then the birth mother would have been 10, while not impossible, isn't likely.

The mom is her birth mother, but she may not be the baby with the birth certificate. Possibly. But the date chosen by the adoptive family would have made her birth mother 10 years old at the time of birth. There's a little wiggle room for sure, but I don't think she's nearly as old as they tried to claim.

I mean, the evidence is that she aged. They said she was an adult when she looked like a little girl with little girl face and little girl teeth. Now she is an adult and looks like an adult. With an adult face and body (albeit small due to dwarfism) and adult teeth.
Those two pieces of shit abandoned a child to fend for herself because she wasn't giving them their perfect social media family due to what I imagine is pretty horrific trauma.

I do think she was older than 6 though, even if it's just a few years. The adoptive parents are trash.

I just don't understand why people would doubt her age at all. Those people lied on her and now she has to defend her age and life, as if she was in control of her circumstances? It's all gross to me.

Why would they say they have evidence from people and then when those experts are interviewed they show different answers.

I saw a tiktok this morning saying a current dental record/test put her at 22, meaning she would have been 9 at adoption in 2010 (adoptive parents were told she was 7 at adoption). I haven't watched the doc yet so this is literally all I have heard as of recent

I haven’t watched, but could it be that either the birth mother or adoption agency “aged her down” because younger kids are more likely to be placed, as gross as that is?

A good friend of mine who adopted her two children said as her daughter grew, the dentist said she was likely older than the adoption agency had said. Younger children are definitely easier to place. But they just went with the age they originally thought at that point because there was no way to know for sure.

We adopted dd1 there was no question about her age, but she grew 7 inches in the first 18 months we had her due to no longer being severally malnourished and neglected. She aged very rapidly in some ways to "catch up" to her peers.
It's entirely possible that a child who looked younger than their age then had a stark difference as they grew that these people used to justify their actions.

There are new episodes of this out and it’s insanity. I've watched the new episodes. The focus isn't her age or what happened to her when she was younger anymore since she's like 20 years old now and legally an adult, but more trying to figure out if she's still being mistreated/taken advantage of and why considering she defends the family that seems to be taking advantage of her and benefiting financially from her. I think it's crazy that Nicole brought her into their home without any ground rules or insistence on therapy. I get that her heart was likely in the right place and she might not have known the extent of what Natalia had been through, but I'm not surprised the transition did not go well.

I guess I am not shocked the one family ended up being a little crazy (they seemed a bit suss). I really hope the new one is better, but I am also concerned since they don't seem to be insisting she get any therapy or anything. I also worry that the "boyfriend" is a catfish.
