2023 was kind of a shitty year for me. There were a couple of months in the middle of the year that were especially awful and I was stressed and anxious and wasn’t eating or taking care of myself well. I lost a bunch of weight but not in a healthy or sustainable way. 0/10 would not recommend. I decided towards the end of the year that I wanted to prioritize me for once and managed to pull out a pretty decent end of the year. At least health and fitness wise. I stayed consistent with my running and other than a hip injury reminding me why I need to have cutback weeks on mileage, I still got out there.
I’m setting a goal for 2024 of 750 miles. I think that is super attainable. I would also really like to run my first half marathon this year. For January I’m just aiming for 50 miles. Anything over that is bonus. But I want to have a goal that I can still hit if I only get 3-4 runs in during the week. I want that extra leeway since my hip still isn’t 100% (though it is definitely much better) and also because I know the weather that we’ve been having isn’t going to last forever and it will eventually be negative temps and snowy days. I will say that I have been enjoying my cold weather runs more than I thought I would. Learning how to dress for different temps has made a huge difference and this is the most consistent I’ve ever been during the winter months. Because fuck a treadmill forever. I’m sorry if you love them 🤣
I started 2024 yesterday with a 3 mile run. Followed it up with 10 min ALW, 10 min standing core (I don’t think I’m coordinated enough for those?), 10 min barre, 15 min hip mobility.

I’m sorry that so many of us have had a shitty 2023. I hope each and every one of you has a fantastic 2024 and I’m so thankful that you all are here. Thanks for being the best cheerleaders and support system in this little corner of the internet ❤️

Happy new year friends! I too am glad that 2023 is over. It sucked for me as well. So much struggle and sadness. I am focusing on being more present and to not sweat the small stuff. Also, I catch myself asking myself what can I do now to make tomorrow easier for me.
2024 Goals are simple. Run 700 miles 1 race a month (at least) Eat healthy and meal plan.
Today I am still off work and I needed to up my mileage so a 6 mile interval run was had. The weather was great, chilly, but still great!
Food: Prerun - ZC overnight cookie dough oats B: ST breakfast burrito (also meal prepped for the rest of the week) S: Cottage cheese and strawberries L: ZC chicken, broccoli dorito casserole D: ST black eyed pea salad and air fryer shrimp - also baseball tonight! it's going to be cold!!

I signed up for a 10k on March 3. Gonna work on speed and follow a bit of a training plan between now and then, plus core work at a minimum.

Up until getting sick at the end of December and then the holidays I was consistently working out 5 days a week from September 1st on.
I’m excited to get back to it tomorrow. I was supposed to do it today but then our new tv was getting delivered and of course it was 8-12 and I have an initial interview at 1 on zoom so blah.
I am getting my food together though and will be starting to track next week. My first goal is 15 pounds by my birthday in April.

I went to a Strength 50 class this morning. Ugh I love these classes and I wish they worked for my schedule more. They got rid of the Thursday class time I could make while DS is in school. 😭 They said California has some new rules (laws?) about how long coaches can work for consecutively or something. IDK. I should still be able to go Sunday mornings though, as long as softball doesn’t interfere.
It was a lower body class and was really good. Lots of glute and quad work with some core. I hate certain lower body exercises, and this class had mostly things I enjoyed lol.
I don’t know if I mentioned this yet, but one of my goals is to re-incorporate Peloton workouts with my OTF. Thursday for sure I will be able to do a ride. I’m considering completely resetting my ride PRs. I think I’m going to. I haven’t done that since before pregnant with DS, and I’m just in a different place physically. It will give me more realistic goals I think.

Hi! Happy 2024!
This year I would like to continue strength training 5-6 days a week. I would also like to incorporate more Pilates into my schedule, even if it's just tacking on a 10 min video a couple extra times a week. I've been doing Pilates every Thursday for awhile for my recovery day and I am really enjoying it, and my core feels super strong between that and doing other core workouts everyday. So more Pilates, and I'd also like to try and get out for more walks, even in the winter. It's good for my mental health, and with WFH I can easily sneak out for afternoon walks with Teams on my phone. I'd say I like to do that 2-3 times a week.
Also would love to lose my holiday weight and then a few extra lbs. Started WW tracking again today. No more shoving fistfuls of Chex Mix in my face anymore. I don't have any regrets about last week though. I enjoyed a lot of good food and drinks, and it was a nice break from tracking and working so hard to be mindful of what I'm eating. Back to my usual strategy of eating really well during the week and then being a little more flexible on weekends.
Today I started Andy's 3 day split. 30 min legs and core. Plus a 10 min core with Emma. I'm thinking I may want to do RK's 5 day split again just because I'm so obsessed with the results, but I took yesterday off so I won't be able to fit that in this week. We'll see if I like Andy's enough to repeat it next week or go back to RK.
B - Rye toast, turkey sausage, strawberries L - leftover seafood from our NYD dinner D - Skinnytaste egg roll bowls S - TBD

2023 was not really what I had planned when I started it. I ended with 8k minutes on Peloton. Strava tells me I biked 736 miles, majority of which are owed to three PZP challenges.
Fall 2023 was by far the hardest semester of my life. School, work, health, life, all of it. I maintained weight until I started Topamax in October, then promptly dropped 12lb. It's still coming off, but it's slowed down a bit. I'm hoping to take advantage of the fat loss because you can now see some of the muscle tone I've been building. I just need to keep on that.
I will have a heavier school load this semester, so I plan to stick with the App One until I'm done with that and work on strength and yoga. I don't think I'd get my money's worth in rides from App+. I'm having a hard enough time motivating myself to do cardio as it is.

2023 I had good months and not so good months. December I was sick the whole month. I started out with such commitment, then I got smacked down by a cold, followed by a stomach virus, that left me nauseous for 2 weeks after, and then I got an infection right before Christmas that had my whole face swollen and throbbing in pain, but luckily, a week of strong antibiotics knocked it out.
2024 has started with a bang. Our dishwasher quit and we are lucky it did, because when H pulled it out, the wire was all black and melted and the pad on back of the dishwasher was scorched. Glad nothing else happened.
Exercise wise I want to focus on consistency and adding in strength and maybe some longer stretches. Focus on losing my baby weight once and for all and generally just trying to feel more like myself again. It’s been a long 5 years of infertility and pregnancies and I’m ready to let it all go and be me again, if that makes sense.
Today work was quite busy, but I managed to get in a 30 min walk + Run w/Olivia. Considering it was the first time in a long time, I felt good!

I squeezed in a Liift workout this afternoon even though my kids are home and I am trying to work. Certainly not the most intense workout, but i didn't use the built-in excuses, so I'm pretty proud of myself. i do have to go to the office tomorrow, so that will be the first time i have to actually wake up early to make it happen.

20 min pop run with Matty, and 20 min walk with RK that I did more as a hike for a total of 3 miles. Then some arms with Robin, and core with Adrian. Longest workout in a while but I don’t have the kids today and am off work til next week so I had the time.
Taking down Christmas and cleaning today 🎉

Not really shooting for any goals in 2024 given my arm and leg are so unpredictable. I hope to run some races but we'll see.

I’m thinking about upgrading to a Garmin watch because my Apple Watch battery is dying a fast death. Do any of you use a Garmin for your day to day main watch? I want something with a long battery life that will buzz on my wrist when I get a text message as far as smartwatch features go. Then obviously using it to track my runs and fitness activities, ideally with a map showing where I went (with my phone is fine), HR monitoring, and really just the basic features that I use now. I don’t know which Garmin to consider though and the internet is overwhelming.

I was looking at the Garmin Vivoactive 5, seems to have the best features for that price point. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet though. Interested to see what others recommend. I want something that will track my runs and activity, and store music or podcasts, and be able to send basic texts, so I don’t need to bring my phone along on outdoor activities.

The battery lasted about three days without a charge if I also worked out with it, but I use my 920XT for almost all of my workouts, so I could squeeze five days out of it most of the time.

It’s my least favorite time of the year, work-wise, as I have 25 annual reviews to write by mid-month on top of everything else.
But I carved out some me time at lunch for a workout.
- 30 min KISS Ride with Denis - 5 min AFO Carrie Underwood Post-Ride Stretch with Denis
I think this first week getting back in the groove will be a KISS week. I’m so glad MH and I got to see them on their final tour last fall.

I don't really go here. My pt and doc want me to track how many steps I do.
on my phone if I hit 2500 to 3000 I end up in bad pain. Which isnt many steps at all. They think the data will give them some kinda insight.
But I'm always putting my phone down on my desk or counter and forgetting to pick it up for hours at a time. Pretty dure i do more steps.
Basically I just need a cheapo. $20 would be great but I have an Amazon gift card for more than twice that if there's something nice.
i want it to last a year or more. It doesn't have to talk to my phone but I have s22.
Any recommendations? Kid version might work even.
Thanks in advance

Stuck to my macros and hit my target for today. Already weighed and logged breakfast and lunch for tomorrow.
I had hoped to do some strength during lunch at school but the psychologist popped by to meet with me so no luck. FX I’ll be able to fit that in tomorrow.

AmyG can you check if your insurance has any discounts or would cover a step tracking device? I just moved from a fit bit after like 8 years (bittersweet) and the most basic model of the that is what I would recommend. Unless you want to go really low tech and do a pedometer.

I haven't seen my insurance cover much of anything. It's a fairly high deductible plan but I'll poke around on the website again. Basic fit bit like an inspire 3?
