My 2023 goal was 50 books, and I ended with 103. I set my 2024 goal at 105 and we'll see where I land. I, too, want to read a bit more nonfiction this year. I signed up for the SSS book club because both of those books were of interest to me.

I read 102 books in 2023. My goal is 101 for 2024.
Can we do our top 3-5 for the year?
In no order: Beartown Project Hail Mary Fourth Wing In Five Years The One
(Bright Young Women, Starling House and Nature of Witches were honorable mentions)

For December, I made up for all the books I didn't read in November and got through 12 books. I'll post a graphic when I'm on Tapa.
The January books I am looking forward to are The Fury, Everyone on This Train is a Suspect, and Midnight.

Happy New Year!
I got 68/75 books read this year. I’m honestly wondering though if I forgot to put some on my read shelf as I’m looking through them. I did read new genres and longer books this year but I also usually hit between 70-75 books each year.
I set my goal this year for 70.
December was a decent month for as busy as we were.
Faking Christmas You make it feel like Christmas The collective Inheritance Good girl’s guide to murder

I only had six 5 star reads last year so I’ll list all of those as my top books of the year: Top 5 fiction (no particular order): Return of the Thief (Queens Thief #6) Fourth Wing A Court of Mist and Fury A Court of Silver Flames House of Sky and Breath (Crescent City 2)
Top Non Fiction: Bad Blood
I had a lot of 4 star reads but a book really has to grab me and suck my in to be a 5 star

My goal was 35 and I hit that exactly. I’m going to keep it the same for 2024.
I have a few longer/heavier books on my list for this year but will definitely still be mixing in a lot of mindless thriller type books.

My goal was 30 and I read 26. I will keep the goal of 30- I am not a fast reader! I figure about two a month is a good pace for me, but sometimes I'm much faster and then just go a little while in between.
I am currently reading the next (for me) installment in the Louise Penny series- A Great Reckoning. I love them for holidays and vacation time. I just started When the Stars go Dark on audio.
My 2023 favorites were: Tell Me Everything by Erika krouse Aquanaut by Rick Stanton (not particularly well written but I was so enthralled by the story) The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections by Eva Jurczyk The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule (a true crime classic I somehow never read!)

My goal was 100 and I read 108 books. My goal for this year is similar but I want to make sure to keep challenging myself with non-fiction and heavier literature and not just sticking to my favorite genres. I'm also going to do the 52 Book Challenge and hopefully that will help me get out of my comfort zone as well. I read 13 books in December and my favorites were Sure I'll join Your Cult by Maria Bamford and the first two books in the Percy Jackson series. I really enjoyed the Sure, I'll Join Your Cult audiobook. Maria's impressions of her mother are hilarious.

DD and I are reading Tuck Everlasting together this afternoon (another short one sudsy!). I loved this book when I first read it as a 10 year old, I loved the movie when I saw it in high school, and I’m sad I never got to see the musical. I’m so excited to share this with her.

I shot high for 175 the past two years and fell short both, 162 two years ago and 159 last year. I'm going for one more try.

I read 80 books this, so blew past my goal of 60, so I figured I'll try and set my goal for 80 this year and see how that goes.
December started out really strong, and then I got stuck on the book Leech (which is really interesting - I think it's just a case of wrong time), and didn't finish anything after Dec 11th, so I am putting that one down. I think my first read will be Hunt on Dark Waters by Katee Robert - I'm hoping something lighter/smutty will help me out of my slump.
My December reads were: -Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree - 5 stars -A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone - 5 stars -Witch of Wild Things by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland - 5 stars -Lucky Girl, How I became a horror writer: A krampus story by Mary Rickert - 1 star -Candy Cain Kills by Brian McAuley - 4.5 stars rounded up -I am AI by Ai Jiang - 5 stars

Ooh, I loved this movie but never read the book. I'll have to see if my DD (10 years old) wants to read it too.

I finished 2023 with 75 books. That's less than what I've had recently, but I'm good with it. My 2023 goal was intentional reading and I think I achieved that.
I only read two books in December, but I really liked them both. God Spare the Girls by Kelsey McKinney (the normal gossip girl!) and One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston
My reading related goal this year is I joined a book club! I am trying to be more social so this seems like a goal that achieves both.

My TBR shelves are out of control and I'm so excited to dive in. Christmas gifts/purchases for the TBR shelf include: The Beartown trilogy The Murder of Mr. Ma Love and Other Words
We gifted my MIL "Inheritance" by Nora Roberts - she loved it and handed it over to my daughter and I to read so I'm looking forward to that one as well.

My first book of 2024 was Identical by Ellen Hopkins. Do not read this book. It was so disturbing but I couldn’t stop reading bc I wanted to know how it ended. I ended up skimming a bunch. But yeah, don’t.

I finished Hemlock Island by Kelley Armstrong today. Thriller with a pretty good twist. (I generally like what the author writes, and this one is good too). 4.5*
