We know I love my food threads!
What are you cooking because I need ideas for appetizers (we will get wings too) for New Year’s Eve. Plus h doesn’t eat pork so I’m not sure what to do for New Year’s Day

I think I am going to make lasagna. My mom is considering driving to my hometown and picking up sauce from my favorite restaurant in town. Their sauce is amazing.

We'll definitely have some sort of greens, hoppin' john, and cornbread for New Year's Day, but I'm also undecided on what type of meat.
I'll keep an eye on this thread for apps ideas for NYE because I don't know what we're doing for that. H requested sausage balls, but I hate mixing those up, so I told him he could make them if he wanted them.

I need super picky, kid-friendly ideas for my annual graze table. I usually do fruits and veggies, chips, and desserts. One year I did soft pretzels with a cheese dip. I do a good mix of healthy and non-healthy. Then I do a sparkling cider in fancy glasses for them.

If I left it up to my kids, it would just be straight up ramen noodles LOL.

We are obligated to eat pork and sauerkraut 😅 It was the one time a year we had pork roast because we needed luck 😂 Our last few years have been rough and I blame h not eating pork anymore

I also consider doing a brunch type table with mini pancakes, waffles, and toppings for both.

I usually do some sort of seafood entree on the grill, last year we had scallops and prawns and then cooked steaks later on. Depends on the weather really!
Thinking pizzas on the bbq though for main food, the kids love that.

I’m hoping the new restaurant is open by then, but if not, I’m going to drag my fam to the mountain to ski for a couple hours and watch fireworks at 6:15 and then be in bed by 9.

I've decided NYE always feels so damn long because we are home all day. I need to find a good activity for us to do. I'd do a hike but we are hiking Saturday with friends and H will not want to go out two days in a row . Anyway your plan sounds phenomenal!

We do heavy apps NYE as well. The only thing I'm sure of so far is pigs in blankets.
Typically I also do crudites, cheese, pepperoni and crackers, chips and dip, and then two more hot things. It's always too much food

We decided on fish for NYD. So now I’m deciding on greens or cabbage. I just did greens for Christmas but they were good so I may do more. Cornbread and I may do rice and beans for us adults and Mac and cheese for dd

For NYE, I think we are just doing munchies: Pepperoni and cheese/crackers Mini hotdogs Pretzel bites Chips/ queso Hot honey chicken wrapped with bacon Crab and cream cheese wontons Might try to make this: theblondcook.com/hot-cheesy-caprese-dip/Need to figure out NYD dinner but I’m thinking prime rib and twice backed potatoes

NYE we are doing scallops with meyer lemon risotto and asparagus. I will make some snacks for the kids, too. NYD we always do hoppin john. We put chicken andouille in it. And I will make some cornbread and whatever vegetable looks good at the store.

My current plans for our New Year’s Eve apps are (there will be 5 of us plus DS2):
Chicken wings Homemade soft pretzel bites with queso Crudités Potato skin bites Bacon wrapped water chestnuts I’ll likely add a couple other things too
I have a variety of cookies planned too- buckeyes, gingerbread bars, chocolate cherry thumbprints
I’m not sure of our New Year’s Day plans yet. I might make a pork loin and sauerkraut or we might be going to my sisters.

Oh, I'm definitely making pigs in a blanket on NYE. I forgot about that. I think I'll also make that dip that is just sausage, cream cheese, and rotel. I should probably add some crudite for something healthyish. Maybe cookie dough dip. I'm not sure what else yet.

We are getting a seafood platter but I also want to do peel and eat shrimp. And I just decided I want to make a bunch of dips! Spinach artichoke, some sort of queso dip, buffalo chicken, etc.

NYE will be just DH and I so I think I’ll have him grill steaks and potatoes. DD is ditching us for friends.
NYD will be a big pot of homemade black eyed peas, cornbread pancakes, and greens.

I might make another cheeseball just because I can. H smoked the one I made for Christmas and it was pretty great.
Maybe wings (since apparently I have some in the freezer). Probably just some chips & dips and veggies to go with that. I don't plan on going anywhere. I might browse the frozen app options at Costco since I need to make an order anyway.

I’m staying in for NYE with friends and making chili and homemade bread bowls. I’ve never done anything special for NYD, so it’ll likely be leftovers while watching the Sugar Bowl.

Our only tradition is the black eyed peas, otherwise I sort of feel like skipping the whole thing.

We like to have our neighbors over for a low-key party. (Their kids are about the same ages.) Heavy apps and maybe a movie.
Crockpot meatballs or cocktail weenies Tortilla chips with salsa and possibly a dip (7-layer or crockpot cheese and meat dip) Toast appetizers (I don’t remember what they’re called, but my MIL makes them, and I need to dig out the recipe… little rye party toasts with melted cheese and sausage on them) Cheese and crackers… summer sausage tray (charcuterie if you want to be fancy about it) (How much cheese is too much… asking for a friend) Fruit tray Veggie tray
They’ll probably bring a dessert.

It’s New Year’s Eve here, it’s cool but sunny so we opted for backyard bbq with cheese pizza on the bbq and salad for the kids and then H and I had entree of prawns (sautéd with a little bit of onion, garlic, butter, lemon, oil and a dash of soy sauce), a jug of pina coladas and then Hawaiian pizza and lamb and fetta pizza on the bbq for main.
