O's room faces east. It is an oven in the mornings, and over a 10 degree difference from the rest of the house. One day he's going to have to sleep in here and I would like to figure out a fix before that happens. It's already miserable just being in it in the mornings and I'm the one sweating through the therapy that I'm just observing lol. Besides new windows what else can I do? I have blackout curtains but they apparently do nothing for the morning sun's heat.

There are thermal insulating curtains.
Does your house have a/c?

Can you adjust your registers so more air will flow toward that room? DH does this in our house so the rooms we use more get more air flow and we aren't cooling the rooms not used as much.

Not really. I think that is what I did when it was L's room and it helped but not enough. There's just the one register in each room and it's right under the window. Then the living room and kitchen are open concept so I feel like that complicates things. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's not a quick solution, but my college dining hall had this issue and they solved it with vines growing over the window (I think they were away from the window so as not to damage the building). They would cool the room in the summer and then die back and warm the room in the winter.

You can close the registers and put a small window unit in there. We do this with our rental which has central air, but only a return vent in one of the bedrooms.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think when you properly install a window unit, it's supposed to be screwed in and such. No one I know actually does this, but I'm sure that would deter intruders. It's usually pretty easy to just kick a back door in anyway. Security is generally an illusion.

Was it how I obsess and worry about all the things? Tinfoil? Microwaves? Sleeping with the windows open? AC units? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I still avoid tinfoil because of you. ❤️ U.

J's room had this problem in our old central air house, we just put in a window unit in his room. Problem solved. It was a second story very exposed window though so I didn't have concerns about someone breaking in there.

Wait, what's the issue with tinfoil? I'm almost afraid to ask.

Wait, what's the issue with tinfoil? I'm almost afraid to ask. People who smoke drugs using foil burn the foil beforehand so that they don't inhale the stuff in the foil that is toxic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In other words, crackheads don't want to get Alzheimer's from foil but we use it to cook our food.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk There's a plastic film on aluminum foil. I pretty much never use it after I did a chem lab with it.
