Come in here and take off your costumes. And let’s talk food. Tell me the most non-traditional food you have at Thanksgiving. Your favorite Thanksgiving food. And the celeb scandal/headline you’re thankful for this year.

Heidi Klum dressed up like a peacock for Halloween (with 10 other people as the feathers). Her husband went as an egg and I am dead when the video pans to his face.

Most non traditional food?
I guess that depends on family tradition. For me with my H’s family it’s tamales. For my H with my family it’s baked beans with mac and cheese.
Favorite food?
PUMPKIN PIE
Scandal?

My thanksgiving has always been traditional but I think we might switch out the actual turkey this year or do like a breast and something else.
I love stuffing and gravy.
My favorite thing is whatever the sister wives are doing

Non-traditional Thanksgiving food: H makes Thanksgiving dinner and it’s all traditional. Maybe that he just makes turkey breasts and legs, not the whole turkey. My extended family makes Polish sausage and sauerkraut and other Polish food every year in addition to traditional food. My uncle sometimes makes poviticia.
Favorite Thanksgiving food: Stuffing, green bean casserole, gravy, potato rolls. Honestly all of it
Headline: Travis and Taylor ::ducks:: Travis plays on my hometown team and I really like him, so I like seeing more of him

This will be our first non-traditional Thanksgiving in years. We're going down to South Padre with DH's family and I'm so excited!

Our Thanksgiving is always a mix of traditional, português and Puerto Rican food. So culture dependent it's all pretty "traditional" food. But as far as American thanksgiving goes the most non traditional is probably the roasted chestnuts as a side and or after meal snack (not in stuffing), Pernil, some sort of codfish dish, and baked shredded carrots. We are also app heavy in our meals. My favorite traditional items are my dad's mashed potatoes and/or my own sage stuffing. Oh and I am thankful for Scandoval. I love VPR but hadn't watched in ages and it was like a season of VH1 where are they now and it was just as messy as one could hope! I also really enjoyed following angelashly binge it

I may keep my costume on as long as I leave my rotting pumpkins and Halloween decorations out. Since MH and I just left for a 6-day trip and I didn’t have have time to un-Halloween before then… sorry guys. 😅
Our non-traditional food is kolaches. (Specifically apricot filling) MH’s Cleveland-area grandma used to make them. Now that she is gone, I usually do. They are fussy to make, but good. (Czech pastry; none of us are Czech, but we all like pastry.)

While most are surprised by this because I watch Christmas movies from November 1 on and put our tree up the week of thanksgiving it is not my favorite. Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday. We eat, drink, play games and plan Christmas gifts, shop on our phones, and just hang out. No presents or expectations and I can wear comfy clothes if I want.
While traditional for me and my family we do Spanish rice and there is usually mole or some other chicken dish with the turkey at my mom’s thanksgiving.

I posted about this a couple of weeks ago, but my MIL makes this dish for Thanksgiving that they call "orange stuff" that is jello, cool whip, mandarin oranges, pecans, and cottage cheese -- I don't think that's a traditional Thanksgiving dish, at least not for me. My favorite is dressing, specifically my mom's dressing, which apparently she took to the grave, so I'm still trying to perfect it. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite, and I'm trying to keep that same energy, but it's not the same now that it's just my immediate family plus my ILs.

I don't think I have anything that is overly non-traditional on our Thanksgiving menu. We host and I make too much food, and then we end the day watching a Christmas movie and eating dessert & more snacks to the glow of the Christmas tree. I think the biggest non-traditional thing, at least from my childhood, is that I put my Christmas trees up (we have 4: the main/living room, the dining room/entry way, our room, and the playroom) and semi-decorate (garlands, blankets, maybe some table decor) the first week of November, then we finish decorating the Sunday after Thanksgiving with Chinese/Thai and a Christmas movie marathon. Growing up, we didn't talk about Christmas prior to Thanksgiving. We'd be cleaning up dinner and my grandpa & dad would be bringing in all the Christmas stuff so we could decorate. I just really love my house dark with the Christmas tree lights on. It just relaxes me & makes me happy. As much as I love Christmas & most would say it's probably my favorite, I do agree with angelashly about I think Thanksgiving being my favorite. We just get together, eat, chat, watch movies, and there's no real expectations. We eat dinner around 3, my in-laws leave around 4:30/5, then my side moves all the snacks & desserts to my coffee table, we turn on a Christmas movie, and we all veg out the rest of the night and snack and eat some more and we're in bed by like 9. Anyway, our menu is below the spoiler, again, I don't think anything is overly non-traditional. ::BREKFAST:: - [ ] pecan pie baked oatmeal - [ ] cinnamon rolls ::APPETIZERS:: - [ ] bruschetta - [ ] jalapeno popper dip - [ ] deviled eggs - [ ] boursin cheese with caramelized onions and bacon - [ ] spinach dip - [ ] pizza rolls - [ ] relish tray - [ ] charcuterie
- cured italian meats
- seedy mustard
- onion jam
- olives, pickles, & peppers
- multiple cheeses
- almonds & pistachios
- pears
- grapes
- apples
- crackers & bread ::SALAD:: - [ ] roasted beet salad with champagne dressing & feta cheese ::DRINK:: - [ ] thanksgiving punch - [ ] soda ::DINNER:: - [ ] rosemary rolls - [ ] caramelized brussels sprouts with hot honey drizzle - [ ] honey & browned butter carrots - [ ] corn - [ ] cranberry sauce (canned & deli) - [ ] drippings gravy - [ ] spatchcocked dry brined injected smoked turkey - [ ] dry brined infrared cooked turkey - [ ] stuffing - [ ] butternut squash casserole - [ ] roasted sweet potatoes - [ ] mashed potatoes - [ ] green bean casserole ::DESSERT:: - [ ] cheesecake with mixed berry topping - [ ] brown sugar pumpkin pie x2 - [ ] pecan pie brownies
